And the mother is a thousand percent correct... Even when you purchase an album they can delete that s***, but they cannot delete physical media.

I can open this song faster after subscribing to a monthly plan, clicking away the advert and then realising the platform has all words censored in the songs I wanted to listen if I'm lucky this niche song I wanted to listen to wasn't geo locked.

Clearly she got rid of her vinyl and regrets that, not letting that happen again!

She is right. She OWNS that music. Companies now want you to buy a subscription to listen to music, they can take away your music at any point they feel like. Amazon’s kindle removed people’s PURCHASED books from their libraries some years ago. You don’t own nothing these days.

Lol physical ownership is better in every way. Eventually everyone will be renters of everything.

Mom is objectively correct, too

This is only 1/4 of my dad's music disks

@ghoulbasement The view from my sofa....

With CDs you own your music same thing with records with streaming they can take it away

Forever in our hearts.

All these streaming apps that we have can shut down whenever they want. And with it goes your access to the music if you haven't purchased and downloaded it to your own device or cloud. A lawsuit with Amazon proved that you're only purchasing a license. Mom is correct.

I canceled my Spotify years ago and started collecting CDs again. I have a second phone that I call my "mp3 player" and I have a much better relationship with music and appreciate listening to full albums again. I have discovered more music through CDs than I did on Spotify.

"we don't even have a CD player" If you have a car, you have a CD player.

"But it's so much easie-" Yep. Don't give a shit. There's something fun about picking an album, physically HAVING it there in your hands, knowing you have access to it permanently without ads, or fees, or it being removed because of licensing, and just putting it on.

They can't erase physical media

I'd convert them to digital because CDs are dying from disc rot.

“I could play it faster than you could open this”. You’re missing the point!

Mom owns every song on them CD’s while daughter rents hers…

Good argument. I spend way too much time figuring out what I want to listen to and couldn't imagine not having physical copies around as a quick reference.

"we don't even have a cd player btw✨" as if one costs more than like 30 bucks

"But we have no space, we have to get rid of things YOU care about." Classic abusive relative move

I am with Mom. Albums to cassettes to Cds to Mp3s, now you have to pay a subscription Hell no! At a certain age, you say. I am done, THIS is MY way & I am not changing this aspect of my life anymore I bought 3 DVD players for this sole purpose, they will last until I die

Yeah, you can play any song there...until your Internet connection craps out or your cell service cuts off. Then what? (Hint: Rip those CDDA tracks to FLAC and you can play them on any device, anywhere you go, at any time, regardless of what signal you do or don't have.)

“i can play a song faster than you could open a cd” girl shut up

Jojo mentioned

"But mom! You could just spend $20 a month to never own anything and listen to it in worse quality through a shitty Bluetooth connection that degradesthe quality even further!"

what a repugnant child

She likes Anita Baker?! Ma’am, I applaud your tastes in music! You keep your CD’s!

Most of what you stream will not sound as good as physical media. A lot of older artists don't have high quality versions on YouTube. Physical media still has its place.

She really said “who” when her mom said Anita Baker? Imagine your mom having impeccable music taste and you’re just lost.

Lmao the mother is like 100% correct

Nothing beats the real thing.

someone punch that child
