Mind you, they didn’t have to include this part in the sketch. Could’ve easily skimmed this part of the process. But they didn’t. Because bts are genuine artists. There’s authenticity in their work. And they show it.

3D modeling the textured handles for the V4. I model these the same way I used to make them back when I would hand-grind them. I move various-sized “grinding wheels” into position and take cuts. The cool part about doing it on a computer is that I can undo and tweak each cut as needed until I get the exact look I’m going for. The process takes about eight hours, but after that I can manufacture them quickly whenever I need to, indefinitely. If I hadn’t spent the better part of a decade making handmade blades before this, the results wouldn’t be nearly as good. Blending classic techniques with modern technology is a pretty neat process, and teaching other makers how to do it has been super rewarding.
