English translation of video 👇👇 Today, more than ever, El Salvador is filled with hope. The year 2024 was one of transformations, where every step brought us closer to what we dreamed of. In February, the Salvadoran people reaffirmed their trust with the biggest electoral victory in modern history, opening a decisive chapter on our path. In June, the renovated National Palace hosted the presidential inauguration, reflecting the optimism of the entire country and bringing together the largest number of international delegates in recent history, including King Felipe of Spain and three delegations from the U.S. government: the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Under Secretary of State, a bipartisan congressional delegation, and the son of President-elect Donald Trump. Also in attendance were the presidents of Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Paraguay, and Kosovo, as well as the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, the Prime Minister of Belize, and the foreign ministers and special envoys of 32 nations. El Salvador continues to be an example to the world. No one can deny that we are on the right track. This is largely because we are the safest country in the Western Hemisphere. December 2024 ended as the safest month in our entire history, and 2024 was the safest year we have ever had. Along the way, we also paid tribute to eight brave heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty. Their legacy inspires us to continue building a better future. We have the highest crime resolution rate of any Salvadoran government and have achieved a historic record in drug seizures more than a thousand nautical miles off our coast. All this security increases tourism, attracts investment, and helps our economy start growing. Following the great media exposure we had at Miss Universe 2023, our country continues to demonstrate its true potential. This year, the International Airport received over five million passengers. That record includes 3.5 million international tourists. Many visited us to participate in Surf City competitions or to discover new destinations, such as the revitalized Historic Center of San Salvador. We renovated Gerardo Barrios, Morazán, and Libertad squares, along with El Rosario and El Calvario churches, modernized the Rubén Darío urban corridor, and completed the first restoration in decades of the National Palace, with work to reinforce its structure, expand spaces, and preserve its original design. Now it is an attractive place where Salvadorans can learn about and enjoy their historical and cultural legacy. We built the beautiful Central America Garden next to the Palace. We are also making progress on the University Plaza and the Cine Libertad. Beyond the capital, we have invested in local development, revitalizing the Historic Centers along the Flower Route—Apaneca, Ataco, Juayúa, Salcoatitán, and Nahuizalco—plus those in Ahuachapán, Chalatenango, La Paz, San Vicente, Suchitoto, San Miguel, El Mozote, and Morazán. In addition, we completed the Cuisnahuac, Candelaria de la Frontera, and Santa Isabel and Suatán markets, while continuing construction on the San Miguelito market and the Chalchuapa market. We inaugurated more health units, including a specialized pediatric emergency unit that benefits 1.5 million Salvadorans, and we modernized emergency systems at the hospitals in Santa Rosa de Lima, Lo Vasco, and Zacamil. We are also moving forward with building the National Hospital of Nejapa and the new Rosales Hospital. Step by step, we continue transforming schools and creating early childhood care centers nationwide. Schools such as the one in the Agua Fría hamlet in Usulután, the Altavista kindergarten in San Salvador, and centers in Nahuizalco, Chalchuapa, La Paz, Sonsonate, and other locations now have modern classrooms, play areas, and sustainable energy. In 2024, El Salvador experienced a magical year for children and families. Our country hosted the first Regional Breastfeeding Forum, a testament to El Salvador’s major progress on this issue. Mothers and their babies enjoyed new breastfeeding rooms and welcoming, caring spaces. Music and art shone brightly with the launch of the new National Music School and the pride of seeing the El Salvador band triumph beyond our borders, while play became a joyfully celebrated right. Thus, we continue nurturing a future filled with hope, where every smile and every dream builds a better El Salvador. Our economic plan is moving forward. We are betting on technological development with the opening of Google’s first offices in Central America and the inauguration of Data Trust, the first data center in the country with global certification. We are working on food sustainability. We opened 54 agro-markets and the first wholesale center to offer products at fair prices. We also eliminated tariffs on 116 items from the expanded basic food basket for the next 10 years. Soon, the largest private investment in El Salvador’s history will begin. Gilport Holding Inc. will invest over 1.615 billion dollars in the Unión Portuaria del Pacífico to modernize the Port of Acajutla and reactivate the Port of La Unión. President Bukele was featured on the cover of Time magazine, once again putting El Salvador on the international stage. For the first time, the U.S. Congress created the El Salvador Caucus to strengthen ties between both countries and promote strategic cooperation. At the end of September, President Bukele met with Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. That same month, he made a state visit to Argentina to meet with President Milei, strengthen bilateral relations, and discuss security and cooperation. In November, President Bukele visited Costa Rica to advise President Chávez on security strategies and to receive the highest decoration awarded by the Costa Rican government. During the visit, the presidents announced the creation of the League of Nations. The President of the European Central Bank also announced that in 2025 they will allocate 646 million dollars to projects in El Salvador. That same week, our country sent humanitarian aid to areas affected by Hurricane Rafael in Costa Rica, including 300 rescuers, food, and medicine. Bitcoin reached historic highs, surpassing 100,000 dollars and generating more than 300 million dollars in profits for our country, just two years after its adoption. Our country carried out a historic debt conversion for the conservation of the Lempa River watershed. We also secured CAF’s support to finance the construction of the Eastern Airport and the installation of an underwater Internet cable. This year, El Salvador reached an agreement with the IMF for 3.5 billion dollars, backing the country’s economic, tourism, and fiscal progress. Moreover, for 2025, we have for the first time in history a budget with no deficit. We will not resort to loans to finance government actions. This is a firm step toward a stronger and more responsible economy. Additionally, we have discovered gold and other metal deposits that could be worth billions of dollars, potentially transforming our economy. Therefore, we joined 100% of the countries in the world in eliminating the ban on metal mining, which had existed only in El Salvador. We are making use of natural resources and using advanced technology to reverse the pollution caused by human activity. We are making progress on the Ilopango water treatment plant and have begun cleaning Lake Coatepeque using ultrasonic buoys, reverse osmosis systems, wastewater management, and portable filters. We have made the largest investment in roads and bridges in our country’s history. This year, we opened the Integration Overpass in San Salvador, the UNICAES Overpass in Santa Ana, and the Gerardo Barrios Beltway in San Miguel. For the benefit of all the Eastern region, we have started expanding Surf City in La Libertad. We are about to complete the road to Punta Mango as part of Surf City 2 and are progressing with the construction of the Manuel José Arce binational bridge. The year 2024 was one of renewed hope, a year of progress that transformed our country and filled our people with pride. We close the safest year in our history, with thousands of families celebrating in peace and joy at the largest Christmas Village in Central America. In 2025, our country will continue to grow, inspiring the world with its example and its hope.
