This woman goes to the pharmacy for a prescription for her sick children, she’s informed by the pharmacist but it’s not covered by her insurance, undeterred she asked the pharmacist well how much could it be, the pharmacist responds with the eye popping amount of $1100, then the pharmacist informs her that there’s a generic over-the-counter brand of the same medication for $18.99. The bigger question that goes unanswered here is : What about the people who do have insurance that covers this ? This is one of a multitude of reasons why we pay exorbitant insurance premiums for healthcare, we need comprehensive prescription reforms in this country, this is beyond nuts.

Texas residents, this is a major update regarding medication access in the Lone Star State. 🤠 As of December 4th, a new Texas law officially went into effect making ivermectin available without a traditional doctor’s prescription. However, the rollout has been a bit complicated. American has insurance and needed to go to the doctor for an annual visit She called the office to make extra sure both the office and the doctor were “in-network” She just received the bill. The doctor office and doctor were in network, but not the lab test her doctor ordered “This is why people in America are fed up with our healthcare system and I have good insurance. And I'm like, this is crazy. I have gone out of my way to go to doctors that are out of network because I actually get good care and it's worth my money. So when I go to a doctor in network and thinking, oh, thank God I'm not gonna have a bill, and I have a bill. Unacceptable. Unacceptable.”
