A new study confirms the Medieval Warm Period was warmer than today. Researchers found leafy moss buried 36 feet deep in Antarctica's Boulder Clay Glacier, dated to around 1,000 years ago, right in the middle of the Medieval Warm Period. During this time, parts of Antarctica were warm enough for meltwater to carve a 4 km long channel through what is now a permanently frozen glacier.
