I think that’s why it’s not my favorite. I’ve always had a hard time ascertaining why but you just summarized it: it doesn’t really *feel* like a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film, as thrilling as it is (and it is immensely thrilling).

During my rewatch, it was hard to accept Ethan Hunt at his lowest point and least in control. It's so weird. He's always has a plan or is ahead. This felt like he was desperately catching up. A great movie but definitely feels different than the other IMF adventures.

Dunkirk would probably be the defining film for almost any other director but Christopher Nolan. Nolan’s use of sound in this film stands out most. Seeing this in IMAX for the visuals is obviously great, but witnessing the sound editing in a theater is next level. What a film.
