Conveniently, whenever he’s challenged, he just says that any information discrediting him is from corrupt studies. He will never take accountability for his harms. And the people who like him will always give him a pass because he’s “just trying to make us healthy“

That’s exactly the alternative medicine grifting playbook. 👍

How many people verify scientific statistics, and how many scientifically illiterate individuals trust scientists? Few. With our life being so busy who has the time? Religious groups pride themselves on rejecting scientists’ statistics and advice, reminiscent of the Dark Ages. They cherry-pick Bible verses to support their desired conclusions, which are inaccurate and misleading. The stupid are growing stronger and stronger. I’m concerned that when a pandemic with a higher mortality rate strikes, targeting large swaths of the population, we’ve made no public health adjustments to prepare for it. In fact, I’d argue our systems are less prepared now than before #COVID19. Asian countries, having faced multiple avian flu epidemics, have learned from their experiences and implemented scientifically grounded policies to protect the public. In contrast, the Western world has regressed into ignorance, using religion as a shield to defend the scientifically illiterate, endangering every citizen. In a scientific era, religious and scientifically illiterate groups in the West reject evidence-based science. As someone who frequently travels from Africa, Europe, and Asia back to Canada, I’m alarmed by the complete lack of airport screening for seriously ill travelers entering the country. It almost seems as though authorities want diseases to spread before acting, prioritizing customer convenience at airports and framing public health measures as a “freedom of movement” issue rather than the health crisis it truly is. We can thank the “#freedumb” convoy for the occurrence and the endless influence of the US politics and their propaganda. I apologize for rambling. I’m frustrated watching the collective west regress, having learned nothing from the COVID-19 pandemic. Canada has moved forward with reactive instead of proactive strategies or no strategy at all, failing to prepare for future crises. When another pandemic hits, we will be utterly unprepared, and the anti-vaccination movement will exacerbate the crisis, endangering public health and the well-being of all #Canadians. Millions could die in the next outbreak. The question is not if but when the next pandemic will strike and how severe it will be. I wish, during this period of relative calm, we would adopt proactive public health strategies, addressing transportation logistics and screening for potentially critically ill travelers from other countries and adjust our laws and rights obligation teaching the public what they are and why they exist. My greatest concern is that government leaders lack scientific training. Politics has become a popularity contest, where elected officials, often untrained in science, prioritize reelection over public health. While they may consult scientists for data, their decisions are driven by political motives rather than evidence-based reasoning. This fundamentally flawed system, influenced by lobbying and short-term electoral goals, sidelines public health. We need a reformed approach where health policies are grounded in science, not politics or convenience. How do we get more scientist into politics and get more lawyers out of it? What will it take for that to happen ? Anyway enjoy your morning . ;)
