Fact checker websites that debunk fake news only claims the video was posted in 2015 but offers no information to debunk this. This footage is viral because it is considered 100% authentic but if it came out today everyone would believe it was AI. The people sharing this content fear that we won’t be able to determine what are real biblical signs, mythical events, or unexplained occurrences in our reality that get filmed only to be cast aside due to being labeled as AI. We are in dangerous times.

56 years ago today, the Kent State massacre unfolded, where four students were killed and nine others were wounded for protesting the expanding involvement of the Vietnam War. Instead of universal outrage at the murder of innocent students, there were voices saying that they were sorry “they didn’t killed more.” These weren’t one off, fringe voices. They were part of a broader climate that cast student protestors as threats rather than people exercising their right to dissent. It’s hard not to hear echoes today. The language might be different, but the logic is the same: delegitimize dissent, frame students as dangerous, and make state repression seem like the reasonable and obvious solution. ATJ: Oh my gosh, you just sparked a memory: my first audition was to play the young Angelina Jolie in 'Maleficent' (2014). Oh, I wanted it so badly. It was Disney and I love Angelina. I look nothing like her, so I was never going to get it, but I was naive and I thought, “Miracles happen.” But yeah, not long after I got asked to audition for 'The VVitch', so I went in and taped, but just never thought I would get it, because the character Thomasin was described as plain. And I just thought, “Okay, there’s a lot of things that I can do, but I can’t really change my face that much.” Interviewer: But you were cast anyway by Robert Eggers, who was making his feature directorial debut with this. You were 18 and playing your first sizable part. And the film premiered at Sundance. What was it like seeing yourself on the big screen?
