When I was in elementary I was in magnet classes in FTW tx, I remember being tested for it, and I remember getting a 112, anyways, they were talking about putting me in a program, but all the sudden we get up and move to Oklahoma where my Mom was from, I never really thought about it, but my 80 yr old Aunt ( my mother passed) said something that connected dots recently, she said when we came back to live in Oklahoma, she thought my Mom was losing her mind about me, and I said why?, she said my Mom said that the schools were trying to take me from her, trying to "keep me", is actually what she remembers her saying, just thought that weird. 5th grade

I was angry about the GATE program for a long time, but after digging i am convinced it was good guys creating a generation of noticers because theres no other reason why they would have me practicing pattern recognition to break me out of the programming

This battle goes back much further than many realize.

This post just reminded me of a special class I was in. I don’t remember if it was 3rd or 4th grade. There were about 8 kids in this class (Private school, early 1980’s and don’t remember if it was called GATES). I only remember the teacher, a couple student names, some basic code, watching some films and playing Oregon Trail. Only happened that one year. I think this operation was in places other than schools too.

He must have gotten the green light to even be able to talk about this. That gives me hope. Thanks for sharing this.
