The WHO chief says that some passengers on the hantavirus-infected ship, MV Hondius, suffered mental breakdowns during the ordeal. Dr. Tedros says keeping them isolated on the ship "would have been cruel" and was never a real option, describing the passengers as largely elderly with underlying health conditions. "This is the best option we had and the only option we had." And if this turns out to be ground zero of another pandemic, congrats, everyone gets another lockdown, because keeping millions of people isolated at home is somehow less cruel than isolating a few people on a cruise ship.
