Last year in Parliament, I spoke about India’s AI journey and two clear priorities. First, from Make in India to Make AI in India. Build our own capability, invest in research, and strengthen the infrastructure and compute we need to compete. Second, make advanced generative AI tools accessible and affordable for every Indian, in every language, so that no one is left behind. It is good to see AI back at the centre of national conversation as India hosts key discussions on its future. Now the focus must shift from intent to implementation. If we expand access and build with ambition, India can move from being a technology user to a technology leader. The question is not whether AI will shape the future. The question is whether India will help define it.

#WATCH | Delhi: At the #IndiaAIImpactSummit2026, Chairman & Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani, says, "Today, on behalf of the Reliance Group and Jio Intelligence, I want to make three announcements. Announcement one, Jio connected India to the internet era. Jio will now connect India to the intelligence era. We will deliver intelligence to every citizen, every sector of the economy, and every facet of social development and every service of government. Jio will do so with the same reliability, quality, scale, and extreme affordability that transformed connectivity. India cannot afford to rent intelligence. Therefore, we will reduce the cost of intelligence as dramatically as we did the cost of data... Announcement 2, Jio, together with Reliance, will invest 10 lakh crores over the next seven years, starting this year... Announcement 3, Jio Intelligence will build India's sovereign compute infrastructure through three bold initiatives. One, gigawatt-scale data centres. We already started construction on multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centres at Jamnagar. Over 120 megawatts will come online in the second half of 2026 this year and a clear path to gigawatt-scale compute for training and large scale inference. Two, our green energy advantage. We have an in-house energy advantage with up to 10 gigawatts of ready green power surplus anchored by solar in both Kutch and Andhra Pradesh. Three, a nationwide edge compute, an edge compute layer deeply integrated with Jio's network will make intelligence responsive, low latency, and affordable close to where Indians live, learn, and work..." Today, I’m proud to share something we’ve been building for months - Artham, India’s first Small Language Model (SLM) built exclusively for Indian Capital Markets. We unveiled it at AWS re:Invent 2025 in Las Vegas, marking a defining milestone for India, AI, and Raise on the world stage. 🚀 This isn’t just a product launch. It’s a statement that India no longer has to rely on global AI models that were never designed to understand the depth, nuance, and realities of our markets. We can and we will build for ourselves. Artham is shaped by the realities of Indian markets — SEBI’s rulebook, NSE & BSE dynamics, corporate filings, trading cycles, investor sentiment, and the everyday language of Indian finance. Every layer is grounded in local context, built to serve Indian participants, not global assumptions. This isn’t a “global model adapted for India.” Built in India. Hosted in India. Built for India. 🇮🇳 This is a model born from India’s capital markets. At Raise Financial Services, we’ve always believed that true financial empowerment cannot come from imported solutions. It must be created on-ground, in-context, with an Indian-first mindset. Artham is our step towards making Indian finance more intelligent, more relevant, and more accessible for retail investors, traders, institutions, and the next generation of market participants. Behind this launch is a team that stayed obsessed with one thing: relevance. Relevance to the Indian investor. Relevance to the Indian market cycle. Relevance to India’s financial future. This isn’t a concept or a test model. Artham is already live in production for millions of users: • fuzz AI (AI research) • ScanX (markets insights) • Dhan - Made for Trade (trading and investing) Proud of our team. Proud of our mission. Proud to build for India. 🇮🇳 Anirudha Basak Amazon Web Services AWS Cloud India #AWSreInvent2025

Everyone is still asking if India can build its own AI. Sarvam stopped asking and shipped it. Raised $234M building India-first LLMs. 10 million API calls a day. Half a million hours of audio transcribed a month. In languages no global model bothered to learn. Built from India. Built for the world. Here's their story:

#WATCH | London | High Commissioner For India in the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami says, "... There is a great opportunity to capitalize on the converging capabilities of both nations in AI. For a long time, our tech sectors have run parallel to one another—India focusing on its initiatives, the UK on its own, and both looking to other markets for alignment... However, if AI and technology are to drive growth and inclusion across our countries, why not also link our countries together horizontally. There is immense potential here..." He also says, "Some of the work showcased in the UK nearly three years ago, and more recently in India, demonstrates the considerable opportunity for combining the UK’s AI capabilities with India’s emerging contributions in the field. India’s diverse landscape—linguistically, economically, and geographically—provides fertile ground for AI to deliver solutions in governance, financial inclusion, healthcare, farming, and other sectors. If we envision AI as a tool to include every citizen on the planet, India is well-positioned to help make this happen..." (24.03)

As AI changes the world around us, children’s rights must remain at the centre. AI can bring real benefits to education, from helping close learning and skills gaps to expanding access for children with disabilities. But the risks are equally real. Here’s what young people in Australia, Brazil, India and Italy think AI could mean for their future.
