Ringo Lam on how he approached making "Maximum Risk" (1996): "When I decided to make this film, I thought, ‘It will be my first Hollywood picture, and it could be my last’. If I took up the challenge, I felt I should make a 100-per cent Hollywood picture. So...

I posted this last night and deleted because I felt too bad and didn’t want to be mocked. But I’ve decided to post it again…..to serve as a reminder of my growth, when I finally get to the level I want to be. I know I’ll look back at today and smile… cause it would all be worth it in the end.

“I was an organizer. An agitator. I know how this works. When the buses start coming in, it’s paid. When the signs are already made, it was decided in a meeting room. The money has to get cleared first. That’s how it’s done. I did this professionally. I knew how to pressure companies. I knew how to bring attention to my union—and how to bring attention to the people I was targeting. I was good at it. I won awards for it. My picture was on a wall in Midtown Manhattan. When I ran rallies, cops knew me. They knew I didn’t start trouble—and I never did. That didn’t make me weak. It made me smart. Risk versus reward. A police officer was never a reward worth the risk. I was taught by one of the best organizers in New York City. What I’m seeing now out on the streets? Paid protesting. Same playbook. They’re just doing one thing I never did. Attacking police isn’t smart. This isn’t theory. This is how it’s done— from someone who did it.”

Rookie Giannis says he didn’t know what a “per diem” was, so he pocketed the cash, rented a limousine, and took his whole family to Walmart “They had this limousine in front of the Pfister, I’d never seen a limousine. I went inside and asked if I can order food. They gave me a “per diem” but I didn’t know what a “per diem” was” “I said, ‘Oh, this is my money.’ They said, ‘Yes, your money.’ I put it in my pocket. Then I asked, ‘Can I order room service?’ He said yes but he meant with the “per diem.” I didn’t know” “So I ordered everything, ice cream, pizza, chicken wings. Everything I couldn’t have as an athlete, I wanted it” “Then when I picked up my family from Chicago, I called my agent: ‘Can you get me a limousine?’ He said, ‘Why?’ I said, ‘Because I want my family to have the same experience I had’” “So I took them in a limousine, but I didn’t know where to take them. I said, ‘Mom, what do you want to do?’ She said, ‘Let’s get groceries.’ We went in a limousine… to Walmart. Southside Walmart”

⭐️: When we sang Choose (at BST), I went up for the first time to sing and I really wanted to take a picture. I even thought about asking the staff for my phone so I could take a picture. I seriously debated it a lot. That’s how beautiful it was, it almost felt too much just to take with my own eyes. It was a really happy moment. I think it might have been the best festival I’ve been to recently. And I’ve been thinking this since the concerts, when I look at the audience I wonder, “Will a moment like this come to me again?” So I try to sink into that moment. Honestly, sometimes doing the same stage over and over can be tiring, but when I finish the performance and look at the audience during the goodbyes, when I look at ATINY’s faces, the Lightinys and all the lights, they all feel so precious #SEONGHWA #성화

Grace Kelly as Tracy Lord in her last Hollywood movie High Society (1956) before her wedding to Prince Rainier and becoming Princess Grace of Monaco: “It was one of my most enjoyable experiences. I was in love, I was engaged, I was singing a song called “True Love” ― it was wonderful, and I remember the cast as a group of amiable professionals. We had such fun making that picture. At last, I thought maybe I could put it all together as Tracy Lord. I was never happy with my singing ― it seemed awfully tentative to me when I heard our playback of “True Love” ― but our director (Charles Walters) left us alone in all the long scenes of dialogue. Maybe because I was about to leave Hollywood, I felt relaxed and could just let the character have her way ― I didn’t impose myself on her.” ― Grace Kelly on making High Society (1956).

🍀 : when i was in elementary school i watched 'mix&match' and 'win' and thought this is how trainees do it, i thought everyone had to be as good at dance, sing & rap as iKON 🍀 : so when i joined my first company i was so worried, i wanted to be as good as them but i didn’t know at the time they already debuted i realized was so wrong about it, you don't have to be this good to be a trainee 🍀 : but i was really anxious before joining, i liked exercising and all but i was embarrassing when dancing and singing so i was worried

Ayo Dosunmu on processing the trade away from Chicago as a native Chicagoan (everyone should journal) “Me being from Chicago I wanted to make sure I embraced all of my feelings, I didn’t want to bottle up anything. I think when you do that it’s not the right way to go about things so right away I was in a room, I had my journal down and I was just writing how I was feeling and embracing it. Then as hours go on, I was able to understand it and be like this is a great opportunity”

jaehyun said he almost passed out after greeting bts before the concert… 🐶 woah… woah… no but all this time, whenever i saw sbn at the company, i couldn’t bring myself to greet them… and honestly, i already knew that even if i saw them, i wouldn’t be able to say anything. so i wrote a letter. i had so much i wanted to say, but i didn’t think i’d be able to say it all, so i wrote it instead. 🐶 so i gave that letter to jungkook sbn, but today they were all preparing separately, so i went around to greet them one by one… they were getting their hair and makeup done, so i greeted them and came out, and then on my way out, i ran into jungkook sunbaenim… and riwoo helped me from the side. we had prepared gifts for the sunbaenims, and he handed it to me so i could give it together… but honestly, that’s all i remember…

soobin about sasaengs (stalkers) 🐰 i thought that i should take about this someday later but it happened during my break this time and even when i went on a trip with my friend to sapporo last time…i don’t know how they find out, they probably buy my flight information…there are people who wait at the airport. this is not a schedule but me during my free time…moas already know how much i like going on international trips…it’s not just me going on a trip by myself, i always go with my friends so you waiting at the airport, taking videos and following us…when i’m alone, i can just ignore it but it’s really uncomfortable for my friends 🐰 the reason i barely came on dms during the break this time is also…i usually share what i’m doing in real time or share selfies in real time on dms but i felt like these people would follow me if i said what i was doing or if i sent a selfie so i couldn’t send any dms…i didn’t send them so i’m sorry to moas who missed me but i didn’t want my real-time information to be leaked so i didn’t send anything 🐰 even the local fans that i met…i told them that i was on a private trip so although it’s okay for them to take pictures and i can sign for them…i asked if they could post it a week later because i thought them uploading it right away would interfere with my trip…i explained this to them and took pictures and signed for them and while i was on the trip, nobody actually uploaded sightings of me and i was really grateful to the local fans for that…but although it wasn’t uploaded anywhere, there were people who came to the airport 🐰 i’m not one bit happy to see you and it’s very uncomfortable so i hope you don’t do things like this again

I flew into Texas yesterday and since we have a busy schedule this week, I had my son look up the times and purchase tickets for “Sound of Freedom” the only viewing that was not sold out was the 9:20 pm, so we purchased 7 tickets, so their friends could also join us. Before the movie, we stopped to get some snacks and the guy at the counter asked me what show we were seeing and I told him “Sound of Freedom” he said to make sure to bring in lots of tissues because it’s a very sad movie and I told him I had already watched the movie, but am watching it again because I wanted my sons to see it. After we left the theater it was around midnight and it was very neat see my sons and their friends asking questions and talking about how deep Hollywood is into Child Sex Trafficking etc. I was happy that these Gen Z is NOT blinded by Hollywood Stars. Everyone should go watch this movie to bring awareness to the biggest Pandemic in the world which is Child Sex Trafficking. #GodsChildrenAreNotForSale

Guiseppe Tornatore on why he chose Monica Belluci for "Malena" (2000): "I chose Monica because. when I met her I had known about this story for five years. I never thought I was going to make a film out of it. But when I met her, she made me think about this story. So, I started thinking about it, maybe just subconsciously. I started to see that it could be possible- to see the character. And this is a story that, until you start to envision the character you don’t think that the character could actually exist. So when I met her I started to think about it- to elaborate on the story in my mind. And after a while I decided to make the film. When I wrote the film, I wrote it for her- I knew that Monica Bellucci would be Malena. That was extraordinary. I love writing knowing in advance who the actors are going to be. It’s happened a few other times. It’s always been a stronger experience." (Guiseppe Tornatore's interview with Rob Larsen, 2000)

Will Seedance destroy Hollywood? No, Hollywood will cut costs with AI. Without Hollywood, you wouldn't have a movie to replicate; they are the source. They create stars with actors, buy the rights to novels and sequels. They have everything in their power and possibilities. This was created with Cinema Studio 2.0, the best film director interface on the market. I don't wish for the death of Hollywood; I adore and admire actors and directors. And a tool doesn't replace them. Turn up the volume, I hope you enjoy it

Paul Verhoeven was very dissatisfied with "Hollow Man" (2000). He became so depressed that it took him 6 more years to make his next movie. It was also his last American film. He considers it the "Worst film" he has ever done & regrets making it. He said, “I decided after "Hollow Man" (2000), this is a movie, the first movie that I made that I thought I should not have made. It made money and this and that, but it really is not me anymore. I think many other people could have done that. I don’t think many people could have made 'Robocop' (1987) that way, or either 'Starship Troopers' (1997). But 'Hollow Man', I thought there might have been 20 directors in Hollywood who could have done that. I felt depressed with myself after 2002.”

Blake Edwards on the conditions he laid out before accepting to direct "A Shot in the Dark" (1964): "'A Shot in the Dark' (1964) is nothing like Marcel Archard’s play, that’s for a start. I was asked to save the situation. They had quite a bit of money involved in this project. Peter Sellers was threatening to pull out because he didn’t like the screenplay. He said that the only way he would continue with the project would be if I took it over. I said that the only way I could possibly take it over, under such emergency conditions, would be that I would not be obliged to do anything like Archard’s play because a) I didn’t like it, b) I thought it was not a motion picture and c) I wasn’t ready to make a movie at that point. So they asked me what I wanted to do because the picture had to start in something like four weeks. I said that if they wanted me to save them, I’d have to take something with which I was familiar to begin with. I was familiar with the character of Clouseau. I needed a detective, somebody to solve a murder. I couldn’t throw the whole thing out. I had to use the idea that the maid was accused of killing the chaffeur and this had to be solved. So I thought that Peter Sellers was just the natural thing and that now I was going to try to be as broad with the character as I could be. “How far can I go now in terms of Inspector Clouseau?” I wrote the screenplay and was on the stage in four weeks with it. Fortunately, it turned out to be a reasonably funny movie. It proved something for me—that if a gag is well-designed you can pull it off." (Blake Edwards' interview with Jean-Francois Hauduroy, Cahiers du cinéma, 1966) P.S: On this 62 years ago, "A Shot in the Dark" (1964) premiered in New York City, USA.

"With 'The Color of Money' (1986), working with two big stars [Paul Newman & Tom Cruise], we tried to make a Hollywood movie. Or rather, I tried to make one of my pictures, but with a Hollywood star: Paul Newman." --- Martin Scorsese Full Excerpt: "After 'The Last Temptation' was cancelled in 1983, I had to get myself back in shape. Work out. And this was working out. First 'After Hours' (1985), on a small scale. The idea was that I should be able, if 'Last Temptation' ever came along again, to make it like 'After Hours', because that’s all the money I’m gonna get for it. Then the question was: Are you going to survive as a Hollywood filmmaker? Because even though I live in New York, I’m a “Hollywood director.” Then again, even when I try to make a Hollywood film, there’s something in me that says, “Go the other way.” With 'The Color of Money' (1986), working with two big stars, we tried to make a Hollywood movie. Or rather, I tried to make one of my pictures, but with a Hollywood star: Paul Newman. That was mainly making a film about an American icon. That’s what I zeroed in on. I’m mean, Paul’s face! You know, I’m always trying to get the camera to move fast enough into an actor’s face—a combination of zoom and fast track—without killing him! Well, in 'The Color of Money' there’s the first time Paul sees Tom Cruise and says, ’’That kid’s got a dynamite break,” and turns around and the camera comes flying into his face. Anyway, that night, we looked at the rushes and saw four takes of this and said, “That man’s gonna go places! He’s got a face!” (Martin Scorsese's interview with Harlan Jacobson, FIlm Comment, 1988)
