Kobbie Mainoo is 20 years old, and you want to build a struggling team around a 20 year old? Good luck with that. Amorim was the worst manager United have had, but one thing he got right is that Mainoo is young and will have plenty of time to get his chance. Right now I don’t think he is the answer.

Let’s dissect it then. Kobbie knows this club because he’s been there since childhood. For most of his time, the club was run poorly and was a complete mess. It’s a well-known fact that since 2008, nothing has improved. What was he taught that’s so special to build around? The club was a walking contradiction, surrounded and filled with poor role models, leeches, and parasites. There is no doubt Kobbie and others are talented, but there is a reason their behaviour and character off the pitch, away from Carrington, has been poor. This isn’t an attack on Kobbie. I’m merely pointing out that if the club is the soil, our academy players are the seeds, and the staff who let it rot for the past 20 years are the nutrients, no tree grown there will bear good fruit. It will simply be the product of its environment and what it was fed.
