Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday....💨💨

What the hell caused this? A microburst? Was there a hurricane? I’m not keeping track of weather in the southern hemisphere. That’s scary

I used to walk by this area and neighbourhood, when I lived in Rio. These are old trees that have sustained many of these summer storms for years. It’s sad to see them go like that.

Of course I'm concerned for human injury. Of course I'm dismayed by the infrastructure damage. But when I see trees come down in these anomalous weather events, it just hurts different. 🥺

is this inadequate forest management or a storm so suddenly powerful that geo-engineering is considered a cause?
