Why does this bother him so much? Levels and rank do not affect gameplay, not skill. Odds are youll still do better than them. Were you planning on actually getting to master prestige? This game will be dead in two months.

They can also make YOU level -1 and you have to be at least level 1 to access regular multiplayer so your game becomes unplayable online

At this point, the only platform I’d play older online titles on, especially Call of Duty, is Nintendo.
