RIP John Virgo

Back when the players had character and characteristics to mimic. Not sure you could do it with todays players. Plus they'd probably sue 🤣

As soon as I heard about his unfortunate passing, I remembered this video, so thanks for sharing

@EllandRoadGlory This was absolutely mesmerising as a kid. This and the World Championship montages set to either “The Entertainer” or “The Way We Were”. Thanks for the memories JV. Rest in Peace.

So sad. #johnvirgo was an entertainer who played a bit of snooker. Wonderful presenter and commentator, and whilst not the big winner, probably did more for the popularity of snooker in the 70s/80s than most

Good clean innocent fun. Great impression of Alex Higgins. Met Alex in Fingers Piano Bar, Edinburgh in the mid 90’s. He walked exactly the same way in the bar.

I remember watching this back in the day, the Alex Higgins walk cracked me up😂

Can’t believe I have never seen this - sensational 😂

Some of snooker's most iconic 10 minutes of broadcast and probably propelled JV into his media career. RIP John

Pure class. RIP John 🏆

Absolutely brilliant and in a world so divided isn’t it wonderful to see the players and fans alike lining up to pay tribute to John. Someone who I’ve grown up with and always enjoyed on commentary and playing and everything else he’s done. A genuinely multi talented man.

I remember this. Brilliant!😂

@charlie_lawson1 Awwww sad news. I liked John Virgo 😞

@Bradjones1884 @Jones94Kyle he was a funny bloke

@Curls262 Top fella, John. He always takes me back to the snooker week at Pontins 🥰 rest in bliss 🙏🏼

Just a week ago tonight I watched him at Exmouth pavilion with Steve Davis and Dennis , lucky to get called up to do a trick shot off 4 cus He helped me do it ! life's so short RIP

Brilliant

Great Character .Loved him on Jim Davidsons big break show on Saturday evenings.Never took himself too John Virgo

Fantastic

Rip another of Salfords sons gone but never forgotton

No. Really? Oh jeepers. I’ll miss him. Like a warm jumper on commentary.

@RobertMcTanned Pot as many balls as you can Virgo

Another great personality gone, very funny man all his impressions are great but his Alex Higgins is hilarious.

Can remember seeing him doing that on tv 📺 all those years back, lovely stuff 👍

Like most sports back in the day, when characters like JV were plenty Unlike today's manafactured robots 🤖 that take offence at the slightest thing 👏🏻👏🏻 RIP JV 👏🏻👏🏻

Where's the white ball going ?

That’s sad news RIP

Takes me back, great character, finishing these impressions with the mighty Alex Higgins ☘️

This vid popped up on my YouTube last night and I watched it and cracked up at his Alex Higgins impression. RIP John

Brilliant, l remember seeing it 1984 . Thanks for sharing . John RIp 🙏
