I love to remind people that, for the cost of ONE of these shows no one watches we could have an HD remaster of DS9

FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Kurtzman, the ratings fell"

I watched it and got aaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiddddddddsssss.

We raise a glass to the once a franchise and remember the joy it brought to so many. Live long and prosper 🖖

Will's @TheCriticalDri2 4 Starfleet Academy videos totaled 5.1 million views. Great for him, really sad for Star Trek.

@TheCriticalDri2 Really great for Will but sad (yet not surprised) about the IP. As we get older, I am seeing less and less emphasis placed on curating talent and the creativity it can bring, and seeing that energy channeled into the message.

I lost the over/under on that one.

Star Trek is dead

Star Trek is now even more dead that Dr Who. Which is really shocking when you think of how far Dr Who fell.

This is the Star Trek: Starfleet Academy we needed. (Note: This female Klingon is trying to help Jay-Den Kraag get his manhood back)

And the 2 hour video they made loving old Trek is at..592K as of Saturday morning.

Some quick math. It is estimated that STA cost ~100 MILLION DOLLARS to make TEN episodes. That's 10 million per episode. Spread among 40,000 viewers, that's $250 per viewer in cost. 🤨 Now compare this with ST:TNG (adjusted for today's prices). ST: The Next Generation produced 178 episodes for approximately $228 million spread over seven season with 22-24 episodes per season with MILLIONS of viewers at the time, and millions more as it continues to be watched today. 🤔 Among all its many failings, STA was a financial catastrophe. 🙄

The YouTube premier had almost half that. The one the media and show defenders said was somehow NOT representative of overall viewership even though it was FREE. Well how about that. Every single person except Hollywood and the legacy media and Grace Randolph was right.

Star Trek isnt dead-dead. It's just stuck in the transporter buffer cycling through a perpetual diagnostic loop, waiting for a competent rescue party to arrive to save the day, Right? Please tell me this is what's happening ...

Set phasers to "Tumbleweed." It’s getting a little dusty in the final frontier.

You guys got me back into the TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager series Got to thank you for that 🙌 great TV.

Star Trek is Dead... If only it had died off-screen...

A single upload to YouTube of a Starfleet Academy episode review by the likes of @Nerdrotics and @TheCriticalDri2 generated 400k to 1m views on average. Just ONE upload, NOT cumulative. Let that sink in for a moment. Criticism of the series generated more views than the actual series itself - IN TOTAL!

40k viewers an episode.

Star Trek had been dead since ST: Enterprise. The 2009 movie was more of a defibrillation treatment attempt. It was flashy and entertaining but was really a mirage more than anything else.

For reference, this is the video where this clip comes from:

Sad

We really should just let red letter media do a new Star Trek series

Honestly I love the franchise, I hate what they, the studios, have done to it, so apparently I'm not the only one who doesn't appreciate the direction they have taken with the franchise! #RIPStarTrek 💁🏻♂️💔🪦💔🤷🏻♂️

How many of those 400,000 views were of the free Episode 1 stream on YouTube?

400K total season views & their Petition is less than 700 signatures short of hitting 40K - That's like (what?) less than 10% who support this, while the rest that did watched it walked out. Then the Cancellation was merited.
I’d have taken another season on Enterprise over everything that came after. Hell, I’d have taken a proper finale to Enterprise over everything that came after.

More importantly, will there ever be a FNT - RLM cross-over??? 🤞

Cost per episode of ST:TNG: "Bottom-Line EstimateFirst-run only: ~$0.13 per viewer. With full syndication/reruns: Likely under $0.05 per viewer (and possibly a few cents) when spreading the ~$230M production cost across decades of repeated airings and global reach. Net effective cost (factoring revenue/profit): Effectively negative for the studio long-term — the show more than paid for itself many times over through syndication sales, ads, merch, and enduring streaming value. It was one of the most successful TV investments of its era precisely because of this high-volume, long-tail model." "

Pretty sure now more than ever it’s evident that Hollywood astroturfs fandoms and certain celebrities. I remember hearing numbers like this for another spin-off show years ago and I couldn’t believe it - now I do.

These numbers sound inflated, there’s no way the ratings were that high.

Dude most of my videos on my YouTube channel has more views than the entire season of Academy... EACH

Hollywood is just there to steal money and give it to rich people and politicians. Is why they never cry about the cost. There is no way they use that $ to actually make the show or movie. Its just their way to funnel money. Billions in debt yet dont care and spend even more
