I love the fact that Kate met Donald and asked him to do this video and he immediately said yes. His presence in this video makes me love the song even more. RIP to one of the greatest character actors to ever grace cinema.

Och, Donald Sutherland overleden. 😥 Naast talloze films die klassiekers zijn gebleken, ken ik hem vooral door zijn fantastische hoofdrol in de beroemde videoclip voor 'Cloudbusting' van Kate Bush uit 1985. Hierin kroop Sutherland in de huid van bioloog/natuurkundige Wilhelm Reich die zijn 'cloudbuster' (een machine die de atmosfeer zo zou kunnen beïnvloeden dat deze wolken en regen zou veroorzaken) bedenkt, bouwt, de heuvel opsleept en uittest. Kate Bush steekt het verhaal (en dus ook het nummer en de clip) zó in dat-ie vooral gaat over de relatie tussen vader en zoon (die gespeeld wordt door Kate). Luister ook vooral naar de tekst; prachtig. Het samenspel en synergie tussen Donald Sutherland en Kate Bush spat van het scherm en maakt 'Cloudbusting' tot een van de meest bekende en iconische clips allertijden. #RIP Donald Sutherland (1935 - 2024) 💔
