Jewish and Israeli students, as well as their allies, peacefully held #Israeli flags across the road, and were viciously attacked and beat up by a group of pro-Hamas demonstrators. A pro-Hamas student was going to burn the Israeli flag when a Jewish student decided to take the flag away. As a crowd of Hamas supporting students rushed towards the Jewish student, security in the area went to break it up, but not before a pro-Hamas protester hit a student in the head with a pole, resulting in the hospitalization of the Jewish student. Someone on campus defaced Ukrainian blue and yellow ribbons with the letter ‘Z’, installed Russian flags next to an exhibit put together by Ukrainian Student Association, and placed posters labeling Ukrainians as Nazis around campus. The school administration doesn't seem very concerned about what's happening and explained to Ukrainian students that it's all a part of free speech on campus, while at the same time assuring them that a police report was filed. Today the students found out that the local police were unaware of what was taking place. Yesterday, just hours before the start of Tisha B'av, the Lakewood Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting what callers believed to be gunfire at the BMG (the largest Yeshiva in the world) campus, with several individuals seen running from the area. Officers from every division of the Lakewood Police Department responded immediately. Is holding a flag that radicals dislike now grounds for arrest in Canada? The SPVM seem to be doing the bidding of the radicals. They claim that holding one flag is obstruction but holding another is not. Why are they refusing to enforce the law. Why is carrying the Palestinian flag police-permitted and police-protected freedom of expression, when carrying the Israeli flag isn't? Rather than contending with the radicals and arresting them if they commit crimes, the SPVM opted to remove the peaceful students from campus. Another victory for pro-Hamas radicals on our streets. Another attack on freedom of expression.
