Dream car secured 🕺I started getting media test cars 20 years ago this year. One of the very first was one of these, and goodness knows how 19-year old me didn't kill himself in this car, especially in a stormy Cape Town winter 😅 I've kept an eye on the Lumina market since then and finally, the right car from the right owner at the right time came up. This thing is immaculate, FSH and completely factory original, except for a custom 8-pot big brake upgrade kit. -- I truly believe in helping people without asking for anything return. The way this car came to me, I randomly met a good friend of a good friend; young parents with a toddler. They bought an old high-miler X3 which soon failed; chain jumped and took out the head. They reached out to me for help and through my networks I helped them get a better salvage price. -- The guy who helped them is a serious collector from Pretoria and one of the nicest humans I've ever met. We started chatting often and he randomly asked me one day if I'd be interested in his Lumina, and the rest is history. What you're watching here is me seeing the car for the very first time. 39-year old me is so happy for 19-year old me, and 19-year old me is over the moon for 39-year old me. -- A massive thank you to the amazing people at Moto Village Cape Town who helped make this dream a reality. The team there have always supported me, Yovanie Ganesh and our businesses and I will forever be grateful for their kindness. -- My first intern and now full-time employee is 22 now, and he once messaged me privately and said he is struggling because he feels like he hasn't achieved anything. I met Mike & his lovely wife Linda while eating lunch in Estes visiting The Shining Hotel. I stopped him as he walked by and complimented him on his beautiful 1967 Cobra. Over hearing his wife telling him multiple times for him to take me for a ride in the Rocky Mountains since I’ve never been & he eventually asked me. It was a memory I will never forget. While on the ride we talked about every thing, life, family, cars, women, marriages. It was two strangers sitting in a beautiful car enjoying our beautiful surroundings. The point I’m getting to is things like this don’t happen by chance. Many paths are laid out upon you. It is up to you to seize the opportunity & live life to its fullest. You control your own energy & aura, you magnetize of what you become, you do not chase. Mike at the end of the ride said it was one of his most fun days he’s had in a very long time. He told me he never seen so many Mooses & other wild animals in his years of living there. Thank you for everything Mike, trusting me in your beautiful car, talking to me on a personal level like you’ve known me for years. Such a good person w a great heart. When I finally left the car I told him me & chat said he was the GOAT, he didn’t know what that meant so I explained it to him. He smiled big & laughed & told me good luck in life. Of course most failed, and only a few remained The same is predicted for China, where only 15 EV brands are predicted to survive in a decade, so a real battle is going down here now to see who will win One interesting thing is that there is one American brand that is remarkably present here, and that's Tesla, you see Teslas everywhere, the Tesla Y often holds the top spot for most cars sold in China, and you see Tesla superchargers here a lot What's also interesting is that where Elon Musk gets so much hatred in the West (not from me), in China he's revered as a hero. Elon is a high IQ engineer and successful entrepreneur. And it's a real artefact of the culture that Chinese respect that kind of person while in the West if you're rich, successful and smart you're seen as a bad person by at least half of society. I think that says a lot about our society and how we educate people in the West and we should really reconsider that. Engineering and entrepreneurship are the key stones of a functioning society. Back in Brecksville living with my brother in a house we both bought, we had an apple tree in the backyard that we were too busy to keep up on. I admit I was pulling long hours at the insurance company and he was gone on developers trips all the time. The fruit and the leaves would fall and sometimes land in the neighbors driveway. For the longest time they never said anything about it, they even picked our apples and ate them, I never said anything about that because to be honest I never cared. One day I was on a phone call with a client and I was walking to the backyard and saw a few half eaten apples and apple cores littering the patio area by my garage. I assumed the neighbor ate it and threw it over. As the days passed I saw more and more apples scattered all over my yard. They even but a big branch of my tree off that was beginning to go over the fence. One day while in the garage I saw firsthand they were throwing apples over the fence. I walked by the fence and saw they were trying to spray something around my tree. The tree is literally right next to the fence, it almost touched it. A few days later the leaves looked burnt and even some of the grass by the tree was dying as well. I suspected they were trying to spray some sort of plant killer to kill my tree. I then walked over to them and asked what was going on, they claimed their daughter was visiting and one of the apples fell and dented her car, and they wanted me to address my fruit falling onto their property. The weird thing about the whole thing is I never heard anything about this nor did they ever ask me to pay for the damages. My friends and I ended up getting a latter and trimming most of the branches close to the fence. I did see them reach over on occasion to steal apples but I never really had an issue with them from that point on.
