Rivian’s latest software update is a MASSIVE improvement to the infotainment system. You can tell this was already in progress when I complained about it a couple weeks ago. So, sorry for jumping the gun lol but it’s WAY better. Great work, Wassym Bensaid and team!

I know I owe everyone an update but know I’m in good hands and I’m already hard at work on what’s next I’ll comment more or less about that at a later date and when I can. Some guys will only practice when it feels great. With a coach telling them what to do, a clock telling them when to stop, and a “plan” that never seems to come to fruition. First two clips are from games a couple weeks ago. Shot fake, side step threes. Reminded me of this summer That was a big focus for me, wanted to add that to my game (instead of shooting a midrange which is what my habit was) The last video, at IU this summer. A random Saturday (August 3rd 4:14pm). Never been the most talented but man the reasonable expectation to be a player and man continually on the rise is who I am. Lights buzzing in the empty gym, hard dribble echoes, shoes squeaking. I had a lot of help this summer from Isaac Green and co but when I tell players that ask me about shooting or improvement, it’s hard to explain because most of the time it’s just deep visualization, reps on reps strongly rehearsed until it’s second nature. Either way, thought it was cool to see the summer work… work. Lol The work works.

I know Rivian and Wassym Bensaid can fix this. I know it takes time, but it’s time. There is no other software out there like Rivian. They have made their own way in the vehicle software world. But, we have to stop calling out fixes when things aren’t fixed. I love this company. And everything they stand for. But it’s really time for it to be pulled together. I have offered to help in any way possible with getting software bugs fixed, noticed, etc., and here we are. I still stand fully committed to helping them. But below is a video of just a few things that still haven’t been fixed yet. Yes, I know, it takes time, yes, it’s easier said than done. I get it. Here is a list of bugs and SW issues still around: Tilt mirrors, still getting stuck in the downward position regularly, or they don’t tilt at all. This has been noted as “Fixed,” but it’s not. This was released in SW 2025.06 -3/11/25 with a dedicated fix in 2025.10. Auto seat climate icon: this is supposed to change the DISPLAYED heated or ventilation seat based on outside temperature, but it’s NEVER worked since it was introduced in SW 2024.47 12/18/24. This is still one that needs addressing or just give us true Auto seat climate where it runs based on the climate system. Apple Music: this one is a tricky one, but it still exists. My library doesn’t load, sometimes not at all, it doesn’t remember my last track, or it takes a long time to get music playing. Apple and Android don’t always play nice together, but it still needs improvement and optimizing. Fog lights: are hit or miss now. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. This happened more frequently after a software update in Feb. Incoming phone call ringer volume: my phone is always on vibrate; however, when I do receive a phone call, the entire car rings at volume 9000. 😬 like why? A subtle chime or whatever they want to use is fine. But turn the volume down…… PLEASE. LOL there is no way no one has experienced this. Driver +: it’s sometimes too aggressive with where it “THINKS” it is in the lane vs where it ACTUALLY is. This needs fine-tuning. It will try to push me over in the lane as if I drifted out of the lane when I’m dead center. However, being Gen 1, I think this might be what it is. Mobile app: can we get a fix for the laggy scrolling within the app? This was introduced with mobile app 3.0. Version 3.1.0 is out and it’s still laggy scrolling. Multi-vehicle support: this needs to come IMMEDIATELY; the experience when you own more than one R1 is less than stellar. Way too many times I get in the opposite R1 and forget to swap to that car and get the dreaded “ key not detected” to then have to pull out my phone, open the app, and swap to that R1. We really need the app to be able to handle more than one authentication for driving and profile swapping at a time. It’s time. With R2 less than a year away, we need this now so the “bugs” can be squashed by time R2 gets here, which will be many people’s second Rivian. Overall system stability: you guys have come so far, but there is still more work to do. The HVAC control screen has GREATLY improved. Now we need that throughout the entire experience. That level of snappy, crisp feel. Again, I’m fully confident they can do this. I’m willing to help in any way I can. I just want the best experience possible for every Rivian owner. I’m willing to work hand-in-hand with Rivian on finding SW bugs and reporting and testing them fully on my vehicle. I wanted to share all the rough animation we did for the Gameoverse pilot! I think this is all of it, anyway? It was a bunch. We were the Flappers guys, as you can maybe guess lol. It was so fun to get to work with RubberRoss and the whole GLITCH team!

This is where I have to share my raw feelings about Rivian software currently on R1. The software experience they have created is good. It’s their own, with their software stack that they control. With that said, we have to stop making excuses for longstanding bugs. Like Quinn Nelson had posted about long ago, having to do multiple Resets, logins and out to get core functionality to work is not the experience we should be having. I know Rivian and Wassym do not want this. I also know they are working on R2 stuff as well. As a person who has spent real money on 4 Rivian’s with 3 R2 reservation between me and hubby, we are huge fans. Have helped many become Rivian owners as well. But the long outstanding bugs are starting to boil over. It’s dragging the software reliability down. Apple Music has been in Rivian vehicles for just about 2 years now. We are past the stage of it being “new”. Spatial Audio is a key music feature, and for me, and plenty of others, you have to turn that off sometimes just to get music to play. I shouldn’t have to do that. Plus, you can’t change that feature while the vehicle is in drive. So then you have to pull over and fiddle with it just to get it work and sometimes it doesn’t. Rivian assistant can’t do it either. Among other issues, like HVAC preconditioning, unstable cabin temps, GPS locking issues, profile switching not getting right or switching profile after the driver has gotten in, mobile app live activities not functioning properly, and more. The live activities is important, because we don’t have a notification for charging start stop/complete except for charging complete on DCFC, so on a level 2 charger, I don’t know if there is an issue with charging if the live activities don’t appear. Same for HVAC if it’s not showing up I have to keep opening the app to check to see what the temperature is. If you aren’t going to push me a notification that the cabin is at the temp I selected in favor of the live activities, then the live activities has to work. I could go on, but I really love my Rivian. I love the brand, I love what they want to do. And I think R2 is going to change the market for most things, but I want their focus to be on software and stability. Focus on polish, focus on features that many people want, don’t over complicate those things. Example, valet mode should be here by now that locks down speed acceleration and access to certain parts of the vehicle. Basic Pin to drive, not the multi factors drive one that depends on your phone and vehicle having an internet connection. Speedy, clean, stable software is always a win. I know Wassym Bensaid and plenty of others at Rivian can do this. We have seen it before and seen what they can do. The YouTube app is by far the best app they have added. I haven’t had any issues with it. It’s responsive, and works. Everything needs to work like that across the board. Please guy let me help in anyway I can, I just want the best for you and the community and customers. Let’s focus on that. I know some will see this as a complete complaining post but it’s not. It’s a plead to make the experience better for everyone and making the Rivian software the best software it can be.

Tom Segura calls it the "way in" "One of the big things people always talk about when doing standup is having a story but wondering about the 'way in.' The reason for telling a story is often as important, if not more so, than the story itself. You could just say, 'One time, I was almost the spokesman for Subway. Here's what happened.' But on stage, I started by saying, 'I'm so grateful to be performing here. I thought the highlight of my career was when I booked the campaign to be the spokesman for Subway.' Right there, you give yourself a reason to tell the story. You have a story, but you need to figure out your way in. Figure out a reason for saying it. Don't get lazy about those moments; figure out why." The way into a story is by tying it to stakes; the stakes are what make the person across from you lean in and ask, "What happened?"
