Dario Amodei just revealed that the AI training bottleneck everyone is worried about doesn’t exist anymore. The industry spent years obsessed with scraping the open web. More data. More text. More human output to feed the models. Amodei: “I don’t think data is quite the most central thing anymore.” The shift is fundamental. Amodei: “Static data is becoming less important. A lot of the data we use today is RL environments that we train on. Dynamic data that the model creates itself.” Not scraped. Not licensed. Not written by humans. Generated by the model through pure trial and error. When you train on complex math or agentic coding, you don’t feed it a textbook. You give it an environment. The model experiments. Fails. Adjusts. Tries again. Amodei: “You’re getting some math problems and the model experiments with trying the math problems.” It generates its own experience. Millions of iterations. Each one building on the last. No human required. This destroys the entire narrative around AI hitting a data wall. You cannot throttle a competitor by locking down copyright. Cannot slow the race by putting up a paywall. When a model learns through its own synthetic experience, the open web becomes irrelevant. The only true bottleneck left is compute. And this is where the geopolitical stakes become impossible to overstate. The nation that wins the compute race doesn’t just build smarter models. I’m thrilled to announce that we just released GraspGen, a multi-year project we have been cooking at NVIDIA Robotics 🚀 GraspGen: A Diffusion-Based Framework for 6-DOF Grasping Grasping is a foundational challenge in robotics 🤖 — whether for industrial picking or general-purpose humanoids. VLA + real data collection is all the rage now but is expensive and scales poorly for this task. For every new gripper and/or scene, you’ll have to recollect the dataset in this paradigm for the best perf. 💡Key Idea: Since grasping is such a well-defined task in simulation - why can’t we just scale synthetic data generation and train a generative model for grasping? By embracing modularity and standardized grasp formats, we can make this a turnkey technology that works zero-shot for multiple settings. GraspGen is a modular framework for diffusion-based 6-DOF grasp generation that scales across embodiment types, observability conditions, clutter, task complexity. Key Features: ✅ Multi-embodiment support: suction, parallel-jaw, and multi-fingered grippers ✅ Generalization to partial + complete 3D point clouds ✅ Generalization to single-objects + cluttered scenes ✅ Modular design uses other robotics modules and foundation models (SAM2, cuRobo, FoundationStereo, FoundationPose). Tencent presents GameGen-O Open-world Video Game Generation We introduce GameGen-O, the first diffusion transformer model tailored for the generation of open-world video games. This model facilitates high-quality, open-domain generation by simulating a wide array of game engine features, such as innovative characters, dynamic environments, complex actions, and diverse events. Additionally, it provides interactive controllability, thus allowing for the gameplay simulation. The development of GameGen-O involves a comprehensive data collection and processing effort from scratch. We collect and build the first Open-World Video Game Dataset (OGameData), amassed extensive data from over a hundred of next-generation open-world games, employing a proprietary data pipeline for efficient sorting, scoring, filtering, and decoupled captioning. This robust and extensive OGameData forms the foundation of our model's training process. GameGen-O undergoes a two-stage training process, consisting of foundation model pretraining and instruction tuning. In the first phase, the model is pre-trained on the OGameData via the text-to-video and video continuation, endowing GameGen-O with the capability for open-domain video game generation. In the second phase, the pre-trained model is frozen, and we fine-tuned using a trainable InstructNet, which enables the production of subsequent frames based on multimodal structural instructions. This whole training process imparts the model with the ability to generate and interactively control content. In summary, GameGen-O represents a notable initial step forward in the realm of open-world video game generation via generative models. It underscores the potential of generative models to serve as an alternative to rendering techniques, which can efficiently combine creative generation with interactive capabilities.

Synthetic data will provide the next trillion tokens to fuel our hungry models. I'm excited to announce MimicGen: massively scaling up data pipeline for robot learning! We multiply high-quality human data in simulation with digital twins. Using 50,000 training episodes across 18 tasks, multiple simulators, and even in the real-world! The idea is simple: 1. Humans tele-operate the robot to complete a task. It is extremely high-quality but also very slow and expensive. 2. We create a digital twin of the robot and the scene in high-fidelity, GPU-accelerated simulation. 3. We can now move objects around, replace with new assets, and even change the robot hand - basically augment the training data with procedural generation. 4. Export the successful episodes, and feed that to a neural network! You now have an near-infinite stream of data. One of the key reasons that robotics lags far behind other AI fields is the lack of data: you cannot scrape control signals from the internet. They simply don't exist in-the-wild. MimicGen shows the power of synthetic data and simulation to keep our scaling laws alive. I believe this principle apply beyond robotics. We are quickly exhausting the high-quality, real tokens from the web. Artificial intelligence from artificial data will be the way forward. We are big fans of the OSS community. ✨New demo: what if vibe coding felt more visual? Brian Lovin Mary Rose Cook and I did a game jam using Notion as our "IDE": launching Cursor agents from a task board, and making a custom image for each task 😎 The demo shows 3 ideas for the future of agents: 1) Agents should collaborate across apps. Each app has its focus--Notion AI is good at drafting specs and organizing tasks; Cursor is good at coding. So let them specialize! Today we're launching a new integration where Notion AI can kick off Cursor Cloud Agents to do coding tasks. The Cursor API accepts natural language prompts, so I think of this as "cross-app sub-agents" -- it's kinda cute how it resembles humans hiring outside contractors 😊 BTW: the parallelism of cloud agents is incredibly freeing for creativity, but it also creates a new problem: sooo much work to keep track of! Which brings us to the next idea... 2) Agent orchestration is a data visualization problem. A powerful frame for designing agent UIs is to think of the chat transcripts as the "raw data" and ask: what visual projections might help people make sense of this data at scale? We need to engage our human GPUs -- our visual processing -- to understand what the computer GPUs are doing for us! One thing we can do is use AI to populate traditional UIs like progress bars and status updates. But there are also new possibilities now... For example: when you have a lot going on, it can be hard to identify tasks just by text titles. So we tried generating an AI image for each task -- turns out this helps a lot by giving it a unique visual identity! And of course, it also just makes it super fun to build with friends 😃 Speaking of friends... 3) The future of coding is collaborative. Sometimes it feels like IC engineers are being reduced to middle managers: shuffling information between the team's context and the coding agents that they individually manage. The solution: bring all the people and agents into one shared space, with shared context and visibility! In the video you can get a glimpse of how this feels. Mary, Brian and I record ourselves chatting about ideas, and then we use AI to turn that conversation into a list of tasks on a shared board. As the ideas get built in parallel, we can all monitor progress and review the work together, nothing is siloed. My main takeaway from this game jam was: damn, creativity with friends, at the speed of conversation, is incredibly fun. --- Our goal here is to let anyone use Notion as a fun and creative "software factory" to build software together with your team.
