Reminds me of the sound of Ali Farka Touré. Listening to Ali Farka Touré I can here the blues, all the way from Sub Saharan Africa...maybe there lie the origins.

Kind of reminds me of the La Grange riff. I'm sure ZZ Top was influenced by many Blues greats.
