Roblox bought their first 1500 users from Google for $1 each. You can tie the 300 million users today back to those original 1500:

My userID is 1315 and I found Roblox because John Shedletsky made a forum post on a game development website. I wonder how valuable his free post was to the company.

Hearing this makes it even more insane to me that my account’s ID was in the first 200,000 users

I found Roblox in 2011 mostly because of ads on coolmathgames and my friends, so they clearly had ad spend. the platform really only started blowing up after 2016 when it went mainstream

@FoundersPodcast Loved this interview. No direct reference to PLG or network effects. Instead it’s all about self perpetuating system design. It’s a way deeper way to think about multi player design. So cool.

I joined Roblox after seeing a billboard ad on Miniclip, 15 years ago!

From whom did they buy all their pedophiles?

The best CAC out there with network effect math that’s doesn’t math 🙃

@mhp_guy you'll enjoy this clip. Roblox's first few users came from paid ads.

He makes distribution sound so simple

$RBLX this thing is a sleeping giant- cant wait to see what gets invented and goes viral next, some kid in a basement is making it now...

@FoundersPodcast Makes me think of how you’ve described the early days of Founders

@TomasMann1878 how about this for getting early users :)

Adam and Eve of Roblox

Yep that's how you do it... its really that easy 😂

hm, that's interesting

@Portalcoin watch this

Hmmmm

Great episode! Loved every second of this.

crazy stat

That’s a lot of child predators

If you cant get users from google ads, buy them from google

Why is this so surprising? Post ad > Get interested users > Keep users who love the product

@grok, do they mean litterally buy users ?

Roblox is responsible for destroying brain of millions of children, there is nothing to be proud about their stuff. Same with folks who added Shorts to YouTube. Bad behavior needs to be called out. Working on Roblox is shameful. Sorry, there are other employees.
