What we saw, what people tragically experienced, through #Robodebt was industrial scale abuse. The driver of this and the absence of consequences? Normalised and institutionalised #MoralDisengagement It is very telling that, at the highest level, there is silence and a refusal to recognise and directly address that issue. Even when they are approached to take small, but significant steps to ensure that policies, behaviours and practices exemplify #MoralEngagement The reality is that public sector reform initiatives as they stand are insufficient to address the harsh reality of #MoralDisengagement Codes of conduct all sound fine, but the reality is that they have proved insufficient. They need to be underpinned and reframed around the mechanisms of #MoralDisengagement Finally, this can be done in a positive way that empowers people. And that’s the key. The culture change is hard excuse is just that - an excuse. It is a tried and failed approach that has cost taxpayers millions.

If no one is going to be held to account any time soon, the sealed section of the #Robodebt report should be released to we the people. #auspol

The next Robodebt is already operating in the form of the automatic payment suspensions. Troubling, this is something that politicians and their public service stooges see nothing wrong with. Nothing has been learned, and nothing will ever be learned by the APSC.
