In aeronautics, a spoiler (sometimes called a lift spoiler) is a device which intentionally reduces the lift component of an airfoil in a controlled way. Turso is an incredible technical feat. A Rust rewrite of sqlite, with an async-first architecture, incoming support for concurrent writes, vector search, and browser / wasm support out of the box. I think this has a very good chance of being a foundational piece of infrastructure of the vibe-coding age. On-demand, sqlite-compatible global databases that can also run in-browser and on-device. The pace at which the project is evolving is most definitely *not normal*. Pekka Enberg and Glauber Costa are built different. Demo:

Seems like a lot of you are excited about Wave Link 2.0, which is really cool! 🫶 Two more features that are worth calling out. The first is simple but just really nice. If you rename an input in Wave Link, the name of the virtual device you see across Windows will also be renamed. Second - you can now set up a Stream Deck action that automatically adds the foreground app to a pre-defined Wave Link input. Kind of a magical way to configure audio routing, especially with the new app grouping.

Realizing people might not have realized that by "flower game" I mean this end screen is a DIRECT reference to the book of unveiling in Destiny 2, which itself refers to a modified version of John Horton Conway's Game of Life; the book refers to this as The Flower Game, a zero-player game where the only move is the initial set up of the pieces and their behaviors. I think if this Durandal is the one from the end of Marathon Infinity, then perhaps he's found a way to influence the Flower Game, and is using that influence to re-write the universe to create a reality that allows his escape from reality itself.

I was at Mahindra University in Hyderabad Mahindra University last weekend, to preside, as Chancellor, over our 4th Annual Convocation. A particularly exciting feature of the trip was to see the innovation that is bubbling up all over the different Schools in the University. The diversity of the projects was energizing. A couple of examples: The Engineering School students have developed an autonomous E-shuttle that will be able to provide point-to-point unmanned transportation around the 100 acre campus. And Santosh, a new faculty member of the School of Design Innovation, showcased a line of footwear he had conceptualised (along with IIT Madras and ISB) using Gongadi fabric, woven from the coarse, warm wool of native sheep breeds. For centuries, it’s been made by local weavers for tribal and pastoral communities to keep warm in the chilly winters of the Deccan plateau. He’s adapted it to make footwear that local farmers can use which is easy to clean and maintain despite usage in muddy terrain and hopes to take the project forward at Mahindra University Universities must, and will leverage innovation that improves the quality of our lives…

The importance of pointing the AirFanta Wear personal air purifier accurately. You need to point the center of the Wear's airflow at your breathing zone. Otherwise you won't get any benefit from the device. This is just a visualization using the mist from an ultrasonic nebulizer to stand in for unfiltered ambient air. In the demonstration the air is not completely still due to the output of the nebulizer. But the air flow may be similar to cross currents that might be found in indoor settings. AirFanta has shown a number of different ways to position the Wear, but hasn't given exact numbers for distance as far as I know. I'm using a distance of 2 inches or less as a rule of thumb, with the center of the device pointed at my breathing zone. The 3/4 position feels like it's one that people may be the most interested in because it can let you eat while at the same time maintaining a close proximity to the output. The Wear is not meant as a one-to-one replacement for a respirator grade mask. It's best for situations where you were not going to be wearing a mask at all, but would still like to breathe cleaner air. Avoid risk compensation, which is where you take on more risk because you think you are more protected than you actually are. For instance, visiting a nephew sick with measles without an N95 mask because you think the Wear will give you equal protection. Maintaining the correct distance and orientation between the Wear and your breathing zone requires conscious effort. The Wear can reduce your overall exposure to airborne contaminants, but it needs to be used very close to breathing zone and needs to be very accurately centered.

IOBM student body unites to demand justice for a fellow female student who was reportedly expelled for complaining about alleged harassment she faced as the University responded by accusing her of being disrespectful to the staff. Universities in Pakistan for most part believe that students can be isolated, picked out and bullied and as there are no student unions who would care. However, the IOBM student body proved the administration wrong which as per reports has now led to firing of the transport staff member against whom the student had originally complained. It has also been reported that the University is now reconsidering the expulsion of the Student. The student must be reinstated at the earliest and inquiry should be launched against her hasty expulsion and allegations of harassment. This is not the first time a University has decided to act against alleged victims and whistleblowers. In 2021 a male student was expelled by IBA for publicly reporting the harassment of a female staff member by senior male staff members. The expulsion led to student protests resulting in the reinstatement of the whistle blower following my committee inquiries which found the male staff members guilty of harassment. Instead of knee jerk reactions to first complaints and then retreating under protest Universities must ensure proper mechanisms and transparency giving confidence to students to come forward instead of putting them under fear or coercive actions against them. The inquiries will not only embolden students but would also give fair hearing to those accused of harassment. Unfortunately even the premier institutes who claim to have comprehensive anti harassment policies in place fail to implement the same when the need arises and even try to rig inquiry committees or create hurdles for them. In 2014 when a professor at LUMs was accused of sexual harassment the first reaction of the administration and fellow faculty was to rush his defence and the LUMS inquiry committee also exonerated him and it was only later before the Ombudsman that the professor was found guilty resulting in the professor getting fired. Whether it is incidents of harassment, lack of facilities on campus, lack of maintenance of amenities and transport, issues of examination and other disciplinary measures the conduct of university administrations repeatedly remind us of the need for actual functioning Students Unions and Student representation within the university's governing bodies.

For entertainers it can be a financial agreement that allows a clone to be used for work or travel. The clone has the knowledge and memories of the original person but is basically mind-controlled. Sometimes "malfunctions" happen, which I believe can be provoked by outside forces to expose evidence of cloning.

Jeremy Corbell’s New Saucer-Shaped UFO Debunked? According to ThomasH, the round “flying saucer” that Jeremy Corbell (Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell) claims is the object in the video looks to be identified as just a glare from the sun. In the video below, you can see the object doing the same motion as the camera, but in reverse. This is typical behavior of what happens when a lens flare occurs. Thomas inverses the footage, showing the clouds and the correct shadows, which exposes the glare. Did Corbell tamper with the video? You have to wonder why Corbell admittedly adjusted setting in the video and even used an AI tool to enhance it.
