...but that's why he's a hero. Despite all the tragedy, and even his selfishness, he still fights for what's right, good and just. Villian or hero...it's all choice.

He no one has the "right" to be a villain, least of all those who's friends died saving them. It'd be insult to their sacrifice. You don't have the "right" to give into your grief and victimize others, you have the duty to carry on and make their end mean something.
