🇷🇺 RUSSIA LOSES ITS ONLY MANNED SPACE LAUNCHPAD AFTER ROCKET DAMAGES SITE Russia just launched 3 astronauts to the International Space Station - and accidentally blew a hole in its space program in the process. A Soyuz rocket took off from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Thursday, carrying a NASA astronaut and 2 Russian cosmonauts. The mission reached orbit safely, but the launchpad did not. Part of the structure collapsed during liftoff, forcing Russia to halt all future crewed launches from the site until repairs can be made. That’s a big deal - it’s their only launchpad for sending humans to space. Roscosmos says it has the parts and will make repairs "in the near future," but independent analysts aren’t so sure. Critical infrastructure was reportedly destroyed. This marks the first time since 1961 that Russia has no working launchpad for human spaceflight - a serious blow to its space ambitions, especially as it plans to build its own space station by 2030. It was great to bring My View with Lara Trump inside the historic Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. 🚀 From Apollo, to the Space Shuttle, and now Artemis, this building is one of the most storied in all of spaceflight. $RKLB "Neutron will be the largest carbon fiber structure to ever fly when completed" It's so cool that we get to hear directly from the people actually building the rocket about the process, the details and the challenges involved. But it's also very silly how some people on Twitter, despite never having built a rocket or having any real expertise in the field, feel qualified to talk shit about a project that countless engineers and technicians are working incredibly hard to bring to life ASAP...all for views and engagement.

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen says he expects to return safely to his family. But adds, “I want everyone to understand that you can lose a crew. And if we do, that shouldn’t shock us. And the most important thing we do next is we stack the next rocket, and we let the next four volunteers get on top of it and go.”

In space, mass is expensive, that’s the rocket equation, so high-energy-density fuel is exciting, and that’s what fusion enables. The challenge is if you make electricity from fusion using a steam cycle, you need something cool, a working fluid to dump heat into. In space, there’s nothing to cool against. A ton of historic firsts last week. Our Relativity Space team proved more in this first launch than most companies (and even countries) ever have in their maiden attempt: ✅ first methane fueled rocket in the West to reach space, well over the 100km Karman Line (only other is China) ✅ first nearly entirely 3D printed rocket to fly and prove 3D printing is viable by passing Max-Q, the max stress on the rocket ✅ first methane orbital-class rocket to successfully complete stage 1 flight, main engine cutoff, and second stage separation in the West (only other is China) ✅ first-ever second stage ignition attempt during the vacuum of flight for a methane fueled orbital rocket in the West, collected first-ever flight data ✅ continuing data reviews, and will bring learnings to our future rocket including Terran R ✅ one really ecstatic launch viewing experience - here, as close as one can get to the launch pad. INTENSE 12 of 10, the reaction makes perfect sense when being there, surreal 🤯

ELON MUSK: The only way to reach 1,000 terawatts of AI power is a mass driver on the Moon. "In order to get to 1,000x from a terawatt per year. The only way that we can really achieve that is on the moon with a mass driver, essentially where you do local production of photovoltaics and radiators on the moon, maybe you bring the chips from Earth, or you could conceivably make the chips on the moon, and but you need most of the mass to be made on the moon, so you don't have to transport it to the moon from Earth, and then because the moon has no atmosphere and only 1/6 Earth's gravity, you can accelerate the AI satellites into deep space without a rocket, so you can basically shoot them into space using an electromagnetic gun, like a, like a rail gun type. I mean, just, it's basically a linear electric motor, as a way to think about it."
