I never really got to explain this journal clearly so I’m going to start being transparent, this journal was gifted to me in October of last year when I started to learn how clothes are made. I decided to document everything I’ve been learning by writing and putting Polaroids in it. I’ve carried this with me ever since and what I have started doing is scanning the pages and putting them online for anyone else learning about clothing. 20 miles every day next week 🫡 Last July I completed running 15 miles every day for a week. One of the toughest week but now with a few more months training and a full week off I will attempt to run 20 miles every day for a week. Over 140 miles of pure tarmac. Not raising money, nor doing it for views or clicks but to show myself I can do this and to raise awareness for mental health. Every run will be logged on my Strava page (Marcus Skeet) to prove I am doing it as well as daily updates. It’s going to be cold, it’s gonna be tough and dark but it’s going to be possible. Well at least grandmother thinks so

I’m building my personal website to look like VS Code. Not a normal portfolio. Not one of those “please hire me” type of websites. This one is different. It’s about who I am, what I build, what I teach, what I create, and the joy I find in tech. The site is already like 80% done Vibe coded 60% of that😂 Wrote the code for the Terminal feature myself. Right now, I’m still adding more ideas and making it secure small small (I no wan see any wahala because of vibes coding). Some employers might not like it. But that’s okay. Dem no even be my target. I’m building it because I genuinely enjoy stuff like this. Because I like when tech gets personality. Because sometimes the best things come from curiosity, passion, and just saying “abeg make I try something different.” Would you people like me to open-source it when I’m done so others can use it too? Also, drop ideas for features I should add. I want this to feel like an experience, not just a website. I am also building an open-source product for my company called StageSygnal. Will be ready soon so all of us can use it and even add features to it since it will be open source.

Here is the moment when I see my hand for the first time. I was pretty shook honestly. I then felt sadness come over me. I felt weird for the rest of the day and found myself avoiding even looking at it. After doing a training session I found the strength and confidence to look at it again and took a photo I will share with you on slide two. It’s going to take sometime to get used to this. But today I feel much better and excited that it is out of the cast. I’m not allowed to do anything with it yet, but I am moving my fingers and that’s big progress. I have to say Dr Donaldson did an incredible job and I am so happy I have a path forward. I just want to be open how that path feels. I am focused on the opportunity I have ahead and I am motivated for this new challenge. But it did hit me how different my hand looks, and even how it looks nothing like it feels. Going to take sometime before I am comfortable with this. However, I know I did not choose the comfortable path. Instead I chose the winning one. Just like sport, to win in your personal race it requires overcoming massive adversity.

I don’t talk much about my sobriety, because it wasn’t supposed to be a thing. I mean, I didn’t think I had an addiction. Then it hit me. It doesn’t have to be an addiction to be a problem. I haven’t drank since Sept 9, 2022, but I made no announcements the day I stopped drinking. Maybe, that was to escape accountability. I’ve thought of taking a sip since, but it always comes back to, “what good has it ever done?”. So, here we are 3 years, 8 months later, & life is better.
