Skrilla is speaking out after being arrested for allegedly shooting a police officer with a toy gun during a music video shoot earlier this month. The Philadelphia rapper is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person, for allegedly shooting a police officer with a water pellet gun on Aug. 16. He has since been released on bond. In an exclusive video shared with XXL, Skrilla explains that he was filming a music video in the Kensington section of Philadelphia and several kids were playing with water bead Orbeez guns. "While the kids were playing, shooting at each other. I decided to be a part of the game, playing with them," Skrilla says. "Everybody is shooting at each other with the Orbeez guns. We having a good time." Skrilla says he began shooting the gun in the air and at other people, which prompted police who were monitoring the scene to intervene and arrest him. A spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department tells XXL Skrilla was arrested after he fired the toy gun and struck a nearby officer "in the chest, face and neck." "The charges, I feel like they were unnecessary," continues Skrilla, who is facing decades in prison if convicted of aggravated assault on a police officer. "I'm still going to continue to keep doing everything. Now, I'm doing it more smarter and a bit more organized."
