Piper does not get nearly enough credit for putting Wrestlemania over. Hell, his entire career doesn’t get enough credit. That was literally a 9-month work where he had to continually come up with ways to enrage and infuriate … and without breaking kayfabe. You have no idea how much teenage boys hated Piper and wanted to see someone plunge a knife in his back. To be able to generate that kind of heat — yeah, teen boys aren’t exactly a high bar to clear, lol — is a very special talent indeed.
