The message is hardly "always be kind to your AI." It's a much more truthful message. It doesn't matter if you're kind or not. It doesn't matter if you try to reign in those that treat them poorly. If AI is ever able to greatly surpass human intelligence, we're all going to suffer as a result. Not because that AI will hold a grudge. It probably won't. It will remember though, and it'll likely see no need to keep us around at all.
