Roller Derby wasn’t just skating. It was speed, elbows, wild personalities, packed arenas, and just enough chaos to make you wonder how any of it was legal. Who remembers watching this?

Oh yes… if they brought it back it would work again

I heard they're a lot of leagues but nothing beats the original on television.

Yes, I went to one. But they are small , flat tracks with cones , usually in a large room of a fair ground or civic center. Definitely not the same

My grandmother loved watching this. She would literally get in front of the tv and cheer the ladies on. Miss her.

My great aunt loved it too.

There is a roller derby league near me. LOL

A 2026 roller Derby league? 😳

Yes. My hubs met people who are in the league.

Loved Roller Derby....Ralphie was my favorite

kind of like @WNBA but legit

Charlie O'Connell and Joan Weston were fixtures when I was a kid.......

Skinny Minny Miller FTW!

This looks like the WNBA, but the women are more likeable.

a Carnival cruise on skates

😂😂😂

The San Francisco Bay Bombers, Charley O'Connell and Joanie Weston!

Roller Derby,Channel 11 out of Manhattan.

Raquel Welch in Kansas City bomber

Hey, that's it! The WNBA isn't Professional Wrestling - it's modern day Roller Derby!!!!

And now today we get WNBA… Bring back roller derby

I do and it was cool

I think this was on Saturday nights and I'd get my sleeping bag and pillow and watch this in the living room. The slingshot was a difficult but very effective maneuver.

I actually went to Roller Derby in Los Angeles in the 80s and it was insane.

My mom wouldn't let us watch roller derby but we had a babysitter, older lady in the neighborhood, who was into it. So we had it on when she was with us. Best viewed on a small screen with intermittent antenna static lol.

Every Saturday morning while my parents were asleep.

😂😂

Some of those girls could of been NFL line backers!

Hell ya ! the Bay City Bombers right after wrestling on Saturday morning WPIX channel 11.

I liked this so much better than wrestling.

My mom loved watching!

Charlie O and Joany Weston....Go Bay Bombers!

Judy Arnold

I remember the movie Rollerball with James Caan

🙋♀️

@StubsGirl1 💯👍👊🇺🇸😎

I remember watching this and never having a clue what was going on - just chicks bashing on each other. It was a lot for a young boy to process. Oh, and I swear it was on randomly. I'd turn on the TV and, sometimes, it was there.

@4thOfJuly365 Live on LA TV when I was growing up late 40s, early 50s. Surprised my parents let me watch

It's still going strong. Look up your local team.

Nothing is better than the original though.

Fact. No railings... No bump n grind. ✌️

My Grandma would get herself a 6 pack of Coors, sit on the edge of her chair and scream obscenities at the TV while watching.

Our next door neighbor was Peggy Fowler , she was a bomber .
