Very underrated player, overshadowed by Garvey, Lopes etc. As a Padre fan I have much respect. Also, Dodgers underrated him and let him walk. 10-15 years without a plan for 3rd thereafter
Played in era of Schmidt and Brett so very underrated and overlooked
Saw him get plunked in the head vs the Reds at old Riverfront Stadium. Same game I saw Davey Lopes score from first on a single.
Loved him.
Back then I thought about Ron Cey and Steve Garvey on the west coast. On the east coast it was Thurman Munson (RIP) and Ron Guidry.
He used to wear out my Giants. He has 316 career HRs, but by my recollection, he hit about 300 of them against us
