🚨 RESEARCHERS JUST MADE WATER-BASED BATTERIES LAST OVER 2,800 HOURS WITH RECORD CAPACITY. A team in South Korea has developed a simple zwitterionic electrolyte additive that dramatically improves the performance of aqueous (water-based) batteries a technology long seen as a safer, cheaper, and more environmentally friendly alternative to lithium-ion. The additive forms tiny nanostructures that guide zinc to deposit evenly on the electrode and create a protective layer that prevents corrosion and unwanted side reactions with water. This solves two of the biggest problems that have limited aqueous batteries: uneven metal buildup and rapid capacity fade. In testing, the modified batteries achieved a world-leading areal capacity of 8.10 mAh cm⁻² and ran stably for more than 2,800 hours. Why this matters: • Aqueous batteries are non-flammable and use abundant, low-cost materials, but have historically suffered from poor lifespan and performance • This approach improves both cycle life and capacity at the same time — something many previous solutions struggled to achieve together • It uses a simple additive rather than requiring expensive new materials or complex manufacturing changes • The technology is particularly relevant for large-scale energy storage needed for renewables and AI data centers The deeper implication: We’re getting closer to making safe, scalable, and affordable grid storage a reality. While lithium-ion still dominates, aqueous batteries could become a strong contender for stationary storage where safety, cost, and longevity matter more than energy density. A small molecular tweak unlocking major performance gains shows how materials engineering at the nanoscale can have outsized real-world impact. This is the kind of incremental but meaningful progress that compounds over time. Been waiting a long time to say this. Over the last few years, a lot of energy has gone into something that weighed heavily on me both mentally and emotionally. Last year especially brought me to one of the lowest points of my life, and through that process I realized I needed to make a choice to let go, move forward, and choose forgiveness. Once I did, I immediately felt a sense of peace that I hadn’t felt in a long time. After meeting with my legal team and reviewing all of the relevant information, it became clear to me that I had been miscommunicated to by a former team member who no longer works for me. I learned that David’s company had in fact offered and provided insurance coverage for my initial medical bills totaling approximately $110,000, along with an additional $41,000 in medical expenses that David paid out of pocket without pushback. This information was not properly communicated to me before the lawsuit was filed. David helped cover my medical costs, and we now have clear communication moving forward regarding future coverage as well. I want to apologize for the confusion this situation created publicly. More than anything, I’m grateful to finally leave this chapter in the past. Some things take a lot out of you privately. I’m just happy to move forward now, focus on the future, and put my energy into the people and things I love. Thank you to everyone who supported me through some of the darkest moments of my life. 3 years ago Refik Anadol & Efsun, together with the royal family of the forest, the Yawanawa, dreamed of a project that could share the crossover of traditional indigenous art with futuristic pigments of AI. They dreamed of building a community to not only host their family, but also bring together their indigenous brothers and sisters from around the world. Aldeia Sagrada was reimagined. We 1OF1 are very honoured & deeply grateful that Refik Anadol & the Yawanawa family have chosen us to be the steward of their historic collaborative art work, the Winds of Yawanawa 1of1. Last week my family & I had the privilege to join Indigenous Nations from across the Amazon basin & around the world as they came together for a truly historic & deeply beautiful moment at the Indigenous Ayahuasca Conference in Acre, Brasil, where Indigenous leaders shared their ancient wisdom, beautiful art & wonderful energy with each other. As someone who has built infra in Brazil, I can confirm that what Refik Anadol and the Yawanawa family have built in Aldeia Sagrada is absolutely breathtaking & indescribable. The infrastructure & organization of their wonderful community is incredible. They have proven to the world a model for synergistic alliances between traditional Indigenous nations with new technologists, creatives and builders that can both massively support these native communities as well as celebrate the preservation of their way of life. I found myself overwhelmed with emotion at points throughout the week witnessing how amazing this place and these people are. It is with all of the lessons of 1OF1’s global tours in hand & our hearts filled with a deep sense of mission, that we commit to share this iconic work of art with the world in conversation with other works of Amazonian indigenous art. We promise to share the inspiring message of the Yawanawa across the globe through the power of art.

A few points on the Powering Canada Strong announcement that is important to understand; * Doubling Canada's electricity generation capacity is paramount. I just wish it wouldn't take 20+ years. We don't generate enough electricity to be self-sufficient or participate in future industries. We have no choice. Has to be done. It's something I called for a while and spoke on. * Linking the connectivity of Canada's fragmented grid. This is a must to increase productivity, and remove waste. It's a one step back for two steps forward type of investment. * the connection and expansion of the grid is one of the important things we need to do reach mining areas and develop these sectors and for the growth of smaller communities around. The problem with these whole announcement is that it is all net zero based which means it won't necessarily build the most reliable possible grid for the $ and will other ridiculous costs to be carbon tax trading based on the way. It's completely inefficient from capital planning point. Mark Carney says: It will require the spreading of costs over time using our AAA balance sheet so that ratepayers don't pay all of the costs of investments today. That means the government is planning to borrow MASSIVELY! That cost will appear not only in your electricity bill but also in the value of the CAD and interest costs that is already hitting record every single year. This plan is utilizing legitimate needed action to transform all of Canada's energy need into ideological driven carbon tax trade system and inefficient power generation that all together will cost Canadian taxpayers hundreds of billions more than it should.
