Mikel Arteta says he ‘doesn’t know’ and his future at Arsenal doesn’t ’depend on him’ with his contract set to run out in 18 months: “Yes [can see himself extending], but it's about today, and a lot of things have to happen in the next few months as well, to earn the right. I think a manager has to earn the right to be here tomorrow, and that's how you react, how you talk here, how you go in the direction of the message that you send, how much the players follow you. “I always say that you need support; I've said it before. From ownership and the board is great. At the end, the most important one is those players. You open that door, you confront them, you talk to them, and they are like this or they are like this. “For six years, I've seen just players with a level of attention, desire to learn, and give the maximum to the team. That is what keeps me in this job, nothing else and obviously, winning a lot of football matches, percentage-wise, I think it's quite high. So that's the only way; if not, you cannot survive in this environment. Arteta asked about conversations with players as Saka and Rice and renewing their deals about his own future: “Yeah, they do ask me, but I cannot lie to them, I don't know. It's something that doesn't depend on me. “Yes, 100 percent [I am happy here], yes. But again, it doesn't depend only on me. And they have to make a decision that is based as well on what they feel about it. I hear so often from the Dommes I work with that they struggle with people online fetichizing them and simply seeing them for how sexy and beautiful they are. They project their fantasies and their desires onto you. That stops immediately once you move the attention from you to them. From 'look at me' to 'I see you'. What does that look like? When you create content, think of them and what this scene or that narrative is evoking. What will they learn from you? What they want is not to passively watch how sexy you are, but for you to train them, to give them instructions, to teach them, to guide them, to be in charge, to command them. This is not being an object but the main subject. The Authority figure. How is your content already doing that. The sexy photos can still be there, they are important to already capture des attention. But what you do with that attention once you have it, is where the power dynamic is established. Positioning yourself as more than a stunning Goddess, but actually a woman who has a voice, opinions, perspective, a philosophy, a way to doing things, teaching them what you like, how you like it, why you like it, already makes them want to be that for you. You hold the attention, you hold the power, so you direct it. ARE 1 ON 0 WORKOUTS THE BEST WAY TO TRAIN? I moved away from 1 on 0 workouts a long time ago. They are great if the player has a specific technical need. It allows you to slow down and dive deep with the player. Other than that… multi player workouts are exponentially more productive and beneficial for the players. This allows them to still work on technical skill, but it allows you to put them in an environment where they have to read multiple players on the court- exactly how the game will be. Add in the fact that it forces players to compete and it’s a no brainer!

Attention Intensity Intent It was interesting to watch Arne Slot talk about the importance of energy in his coaching practice. When I had the pleasure and honour of working with Arne at Feyenoord we used to talk a lot about helping players manage their energy - both physical and mental. Attention Intensity Intent In the model I use with coaches, intensity is mental energy. I used to talk to Arne a lot about players competing with an optimal level of mental energy (to complement the physical intensity that’s critical for the game). Arne being Arne - he was always open to my suggestions around managing and optimising energy. For me, in this video Arne is talking about the difference between ‘fun’ and ‘enjoyment’. Activities aren’t always ‘fun’ but players tend to enjoy difficult. They tend to enjoy the challenge. Sweat and smiles Sweat and smiles Sweat and smiles Challenging activities also tap attention and intent. Constraints and conditions appropriately set channel attention and a drive a high level of intent.
