Royalty comes with pride. I wish our kings know this. You cannot bow for President, bow for Governor, bow for Pastor, bow for Imam….only you waka come? I love the Ooni. So much that I want him to become proud of the stool he occupies.

At the recent Soun’s event, a video captured the Ooni of Ife rising to greet Governor Adeleke, while the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR. seated beside the Oonirisa, maintained his position, and the Governor bowed in greeting. That is what we are talking about. Royalty comes naturally.

He is more friendly than royal. He treats ppl like pals rather than carry himself like a king.

Let our Obas operate the way they think they should operate in social gathering. Oba Ogunwusi was well trained and cultured before he becomes King, humility has been part of his life. Being humble should bring honour to Kabiesi, and not be talked down. Respect them!

The Gov is the temporary boss of the Ooni of Ife. The Warri King is a guest. The Gov would postrate at the Ooni's Palace. This has been explained many times

You're not correct, humility and wisdom transcends pride which comes before a fall. The Oni was not in his palace, he was at an event where other traditional rulers waited for the governor. His rise to greet the governor is respect for authority and office of the Governor .

Na today he Dey goof? 😂😂 Someone who extends his handshake to everyone he sees, as a king, Wa Ni Lati Wun Tan Ni, Ga Ra Tan, You should be scarce, as well as your appearance in public places, your handshake and what you say out too. It shouldn't be cheap. Okirika Ni Tiwon 🙄

The authority and respect traditionally associated with the Ooni's throne seem to be diminishing with each passing day. In times past, who would dare challenge the likes of Okunade or meet Aderemi Adesoji's gaze? The revered 'sonpono abo oni to in' now appears forgotten. It's evident that the deep reverence and esteem once commanded are sadly being eroded.

I’m tired of the honey sef. See how he was eager to stand up to greet the governor while you’re counterparts(lowest in ranking) seated calmly on the chair to do the same.

Ooni has my respect any day anytime , he is real , humble in Royalty, style and always there for everyone. Who ever dislikes him for this won’t last in recognition beyond him. We want him to equate pride with royalty? Nay !

U r of d opinion that d king can't b depose in Yorubaland hw about economic strangulation if u r deemed hostile. So raising shoulder can b hara kiri at times. Emir Sanusi of Kano was removed, all gentle. Ooni with mgmt of full harem he needs to b up & doing. Who posing help

While I agree with you that royalty comes with respect, buh in this case I think familiarity is the key causes clearly you can see the ooni acted like someone that saw his friend coming and got up to welcome him and on the other hand with the Olu of warri it wasn't like that.

That was when Kings were independent of any Government. Not now that Governor's pay the traditional rulers and and can sack who dey don't like.

Oga rest, Tony Elumelu met and shook hands with King Charles. So what's the big deal if the Ooni is extending same to the governor.

Ooni is a disgrace. He is supposed to carry the institution in Yorubaland, but he is full of nonsense since he became the Ooni. And it's been how many years now? I agree, Royalty comes naturally. He should leave if he is incapable of doing it Royally.

I think it is his person. To be honest, Oba Okunade Sijuwade will never ever stand up to greet any soul

Ooni is just one happy joyous fellow. Saw him twice & I just think is a matter of time, age & experience. The pride thingy that comes with kingship like you said is a gradual process that will be with age and wisdom. I think is the Omoluabi in him that powers out before kingship

🤣 I think we should also consider it from the place of relationship, Adeleke is his Gov and most likely an acquaintance, and Ooni has been around these guys even prior ascending the throne. Then there's also a part of humility that's inbuilt for some, they can't just hide it.

SLS was removed & banished from Kano to a remote village. Heaven didn't fall. His people moved on with the new king. Gov Adeleke led government pays Oonirisa & his staff salary just like Delta Gov Sheriff Oborevwori does same for Olu of warri and that's him bending to greet him.

This Ooni too dey over do, he might call it simplicity but their is nothing SIMPLE about the stool of Arole Oodua! The throne is bigger than the present occupier or anyone for that matter, so he should accord the seat proper respect. All this falafolo everywhere no be am 🙄🙄🙄

Pride goes before a fall. Even in both religions we saw Jesus and Prophet Mohammed were humble and serve the people. God knows your kind, that's why you can't even get such position.

Honestly I don't rate this particular Oni, he is everything a king should not be, talkless been an Onirisha, I'm really ashamed of his attitudes, Oba Adesoji Aderemi and SIjuwade will be turning in their graves.

Although it looks one kind, but I think Ooni stood up to greet Gov Adeleke because his seat is directly under the control of governor .

The fact of the matter is that constitutionally, the local government chairman of his local government is more powerful than the oba. It's so sad.
