$IREN is by far my favorite buy among the neo cloud companies right now. While $NBIS is up more than 180% YTD, $IREN is sitting at just +55%. The market is still massively underestimating one thing: Power. $IREN 5GW of contracted power is a real moat, and in the AI era, that matters more than almost anything else. As Jensen $NVDA said: “None of the bottlenecks like memory or chip production last longer than a couple of years. What’s different is energy. You can’t create an industry without energy. You can’t build anything without energy, and those things take a long time.” This is the real AI bottleneck. Not chips. Not memory. Energy. $IREN already has it. Those 5GW will be fully utilized. Just like $AMD eventually massively outperformed $NVDA after lagging for a long time, I believe the same setup is happening here. Right now, $IREN is lagging $NBIS. That won’t last forever. Buy the laggard.

The $IREN Warriors sponsorship and in house marketing push will get some FTX era comparisons but difference is IREN already has real AI customers, scarce power and contracted demand behind it. If management keeps converting that into capacity then the branding gets a lot less heat because IREN starts looking much more like a vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform.

The deal between $IREN and $NVDA means everything for $IREN. Jensen already said: “If we didn’t help CoreWeave $CRWV exist, they would not exist. If we didn’t support $NBIS, they wouldn’t be where they are today. If we didn’t support Nscale, they wouldn’t be where they are today. We invest in our ecosystem because I want our ecosystem to thrive.” The most important part of this deal is not the 5 GW that $IREN can now deploy with $NVDA infrastructure. It’s not the $3.4B that $NVDA will pay for $IREN cloud services over the next 5 years. It’s the fact that $NVDA now has a vested interest in seeing $IREN succeed. That changes everything. Huge news for all $IREN shareholders.

I still own $IREN because I think the market is underestimating both the $NVDA alignment and how hard its power footprint is to replicate. If the company can turn ~5 GW of secured power into Nvidia-aligned AI cloud capacity then the market may start valuing the 10x gap between its power base and near-term AI cloud needs.

It is very obvious that $IREN is about to sign new hyperscaler deals in the coming weeks and months. $IREN still has 350 MW (IT) up for grabs at its Childress campus, representing 50% more capacity than the $MSFT deal, as well as an additional 1.4 GW (gross) at its Sweetwater site, which will be energized in April. In the current energy constrained market, $IREN's negotiating leverage is growing by the day. But I do not believe the company’s power capacity will stay idle for long. One advantage of $IREN's first hyperscaler deal that does not get talked about enough is the credibility boost that came with it. A tier 1 hyperscaler such as $MSFT conducts months of due diligence before signing multi billion dollar deals. This has the knock on effect of other hyperscalers now taking $IREN more seriously and ramping up their respective negotiations with the cloud provider. $IREN's CCO, Kent Draper, spoke about this in a recent interview with Power Analysis Ltd..
