Lose eye contact and this happens. Then 3 days later it magically returns.

@CasuallyGreg Rule #2 when you need to find it walk into another room sans socks and shoes. You’ll find it.

If this happens to you, first calculate every spot that would be virtually impossible for it to bounce to. Narrow those down to the one-in-a-billion possibilities… then start looking there.

Do not break eye contact and scream for your kids to come grab it for you. Leave the wife out of it she will just call you lazy and stupid.

Rule #2, don't move when you drop it, listen to where it lands before moving

Over my life I think I might have spent a month of it on my hands and knees with a flashlight looking for the nut or bolt I dropped and visually followed to the ground.

Bro, drop one of those on a garage epoxy floor and you won’t find it even if you used a rifle with a scope!! 😂😂😂

Rule #0: put a towel on the floor so the screw doesn't bounce.

And when it falls, it’s like where Frodo puts on the ring and falls into a different dimension of focus and perception, you gain borderline echo location from each bounce on the floor

Restoration Shop Owner, where I worked, had the floors epoxied and sealed. Nice right? He chose silver and black chips added to the finish. Lots of white with evenly spaced silver and black specs everywhere! That mother fuc………..

Genius. Should continue with: him going to garage, going through 27 bins to finding replacement screw, finishing job, then later as he's about to get in shower, stepping barefoot on original screw which somehow ended up in bathroom.

than I go get another screw and find the original sitting right there

Exactly the same with dog poop. A corollary is, if it’s 10 feet away when you spot it, and you glance away then lose it, take one small step and you’re standing in it.
