Rumor has it that Apple will use a voltage-release adhesive for the battery of the next iPhone. Here's the adhesive in action. Apply 12 volts for 60 seconds and presto, your adhesive is debonded. Pretty cool!

These tech companies are getting more and more innovative and it is impressive they even think of a solution like this. Not sure that is practical for consumers to swap batteries so would be interesting to see what the EU say about this for the law change in 2027.

Pushing 12V through the entire chassis... What can possibly go wrong? Probably just heating up the pad, making it lose its stickiness. Why not calculate pi for a minute or two?

Well no need for those fancy sheets. Just screw the battery in like your average Microsoft Surface or Framework laptop. With the economies of scale Apple has it just comes down to a few cents.
