@cline Awesome team.. Open-source is the future and hope we can run more powerful models locally.

@cline Nice. Getting this same feeling around, a quieter shift in AI coding: powerful agents moving back onto private machines. curious how far this can go with mid-range consumer hardware.

@cline Atomic Chat + Cline represents a significant trend in the evolution of AI tools towards privatization, open-source (free) access, and transparency.

@cline yeeeeah, control over the full stack is becoming increasingly important as AI tools move into everyday workflows

@cline What does atomic-chat offer that isn't already in place with ollama/LMStudio/llama.cpp/omlx etc.?

Profilbild von atomic.chat

hey, under the hood atomic chat runs turboquant - our llama.cpp fork that uses google's 3 bit kv-cache compression. it uses way less memory without hurting quality, so you can push much longer context on the same machine. we've also tried to make local AI less of a pain to set up - the interface is simple and you can launch agents in one click. and it runs fully offline on mobile too, with the model living on the phone itself - no cloud, no desktop

@cline Great work. I've been playing with it. Nice universal interface as well as integrations. Accessing local 3rd party servers isn't quite working (permissions), but I'll resolve. Is there a discord channel available?

@cline Nice. For local coding agents, privacy is the obvious win, but the real test is whether tool use and multi-file refactors stay reliable on smaller models. Curious what local setup you’ve seen work best with Cline.

@cline i've seen cline stay private locally but shell access is still the real risk

@cline the move toward local coding agents is picking up fast. curious how the latency compares to cloud models for real-time suggestions

Profilbild von atomic.chat
atomic.chatvor 3 Monaten

@cline it depends a lot on the model and your hardware. for smaller local models running on a decent GPU, latency can actually feel surprisingly competitive

@cline no cloud, private, free" is a strong pitch. but local models running agents 100+ turns deep get real slow real fast. how's it handle long browser automation loops?

Profilbild von atomic.chat
atomic.chatvor 3 Monaten

@cline local agents are getting better, but 100+ turn browser loops are still a good stress test for any setup, local or cloud😄
