Scenario 1 of 3 that I go over in my latest YouTube video “how to defend the walk to 2nd base with a runner on 3rd” For this specific scenario here’s a couple key points: •Get the ball back to the pitcher quickly. This forces the runner on third to commit and either break for home or retreat to the bag. •As pitcher is getting the ball back in the circle, peek to make sure the runner from 3rd went back to bag. •Allow the runner rounding 1st to get close to the 2nd baseman. The closer she is, the quicker the tag can be applied, allowing for an immediate throw home if the runner from third attempts to score. My biggest takeaway is at the end of this video. Let the girls try and make some plays. Get them to be competitive. The more they do it, the more comfortable they will get at it. Don’t just give up a free base- make the other team work for it.

And one of the things that a lot of players kept mentioning is you don’t have a wave weather difference, where you can simply get unlucky and you’re out of contention for that tournament. It’s part of the game, I get it, but it’s something you don’t have to deal with anymore. So that part is a very nice aspect. The team is what really made it for me. Look, I get what Klieman is saying about reducing risk and doing it in a more strategic manner rather than just QB run every other down, but those legs are still the most talented and unique wrinkle that Avery/K-State possess against any defense in America. Klieman even references the strength & conditioning Avery put in this offseason to better prepare his body to withstand the rigors of the run game. There was a purpose behind that, right? Finally, as I know @KFlahertyKCSN would attest to, one of the special traits about Avery as a runner from seeing him back in high school (and even still today) is this innate knack he has to NOT take the worst of a hit. So, yes, there's always the gamble that someone goes low or makes a dirty play but I'd trust Avery as a "safe" runner 9 times out of 10. They HAVE to let him be the all-around weapon that he is more than they've shown this season and even last. Especially without Edwards in the mix. Nobody is asking for Collin Klein between the tackles, just sprinkle in a few more designed calls and let the wheels burn.

Shes Perfect - our dream maker. On Sunday, we will run in the Group 1, French 1000 Guineas at Longchamp, 366 days after we bought her. In a time in my life where I lost my best friend, she has been my light. To have a group runner was me day a distant dream I never thought I’d achieve. In less than 48 hours, 60 loyal and passionate owners will embark to Longchamp racecourse, full of pride. This is all about the horse, Sue is very special and I feel extremely proud and grateful to be able to share her journey. The king is onboard and as the interview said on the 9th August “the owners are very enthusiastic and just asked me when the 1000 guineas is” we’re less than 48 hours away and we’re there. We have a runner in the Guineas, that just doesn’t feel reel. What a horse, what a journey. Come on Sue ❤️🐎
