Should Creatives Be Worried? Reflections on the Copyright Bill Debate. Parliament debated the Copyright Amendment Bill 12.03.26 during its 2nd reading, & the discussion raised several concerns. 1-The Rt. Hon. However, a few observations stood out: 1-The debate focused mainly on music, overlooking the wider creative industries that copyright laws protect. 2-Some MPs seemed unaware that copyright protection is already a global standard for safeguarding creators’ rights. 3-It is unclear whether the proposed amendment was benchmarked against international markets with established copyright systems, since it does not introduce a new concept. 4-what Should be be the middle ground between media owners and creatives Without strong copyright protections, creatives may continue depending on occasional government support instead of earning sustainable income from their intellectual property. This week, I’ve seen a lot of videos about AI generated artist @xania_monet whose records are charting on Billboard and who signed a $3 million record deal. But here’s the thing, I just made a Xania Monet song in five minutes using the exact same program, Suno. So should I be able to sign a $3 million deal too? And that’s the problem. There’s no protection stopping anyone from using these AI-generated voices because they aren’t real. This is the fundamental flaw in AI-generated artists. It was too easy. It took me five minutes. So that’s why Black artists are asking the Black community don’t support these AI-generated artists. Every play, every stream, every dollar spent on them takes money out of the mouths of real songwriters, real producers, real mix and mastering engineers, and the real people who built this industry with authenticity and soul.

Parents are being warned not to post photos of their children online in case they are used to create AI-generated sexual abuse material. The National Crime Agency and the Internet Watch Foundation say the threat is growing with more than 8,000 AI-generated child abuse images and videos identified last year. They said parents should check their privacy settings, and review who is able to view images of their children.
