However, during filming, Ridley Scott approached Russell Crowe on set and told him: “With the way the story is unfolding, you cannot survive.” Both realized that Maximus only existed for one purpose: to avenge his family and reunite with them in the afterlife. If he lived, the character would lose all meaning. (Crowe even joked: “So what would Maximus do next? Open a pizza shop outside the Colosseum?”) The death scene and the final reunion in Elysium were late changes — and they became the greatest ones, turning the film into a true emotional masterpiece.

Russell Crowe said that when he was first approached to play Maximus, the script was very poor. It was so bad the producers wouldn’t send it to him in case it put him off. Instead, they just asked him to meet Ridley Scott. Crowe did get his hands on the script though, and didn’t like it. He was going to say no but he was working on The Insider (1999) at the time and its director, Michael Mann, told Crowe he should meet with Scott anyway. Crowe did and said: “Ridley’s pitch was basically – ‘we’ve got a $100m budget. It’s ancient Rome. You’re playing a General. In honor of Ridley Scott Week, I think it’s worth highlighting one of his more overlooked films - Body of Lies. This film released in 2008 with little fanfare despite featuring Leonardo DiCaprio & Russell Crowe, each of whom are excellent here. This movie starts slow but has enough twists & turns along the way to make it memorable - including a really strong last act. DiCaprio in particular shines in this movie.

HOW TO TEACH LAZY AUTHORITIES A LESSON??? Mahabubabad Municipality 21st ward decided not cleaning garbage for a few days is okay! Citizens requested, complained and then decided to teach the officials a lesson. They collected the trash and dumped the garbage in every section room at the municipal office. Of course, the officials were arguing with the citizens saying it is wrong to dump garbage in a government office in the officer’s chamber. I wonder why they think citizens can live among garbage and officers who are paid salaries with tax payers money cannot live for 5mins in the midst of garbage. Kudos to the citizens of Mahabubabad, Telangana 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼! Absolutely love your protest.

Wow Such an Amazing initiative by BJP MLA from Belgaum Abhay Patil ji for GARBAGE collection 👇👇 FIRST time not just in Karnataka, but in Bharat Underground hydraulic dustbin of 1 tonne capacity Once 75 % garbage is collected, there will automatic intimation to sanitation dept If garbage not collected even after 100 % full, there will be PUNITIVE action against the concerned team I for one, feel there’s a huge SCAM in BMC with THOUSANDS of garbage trucks 🚚 collecting garbage from all over from Mumbai & taking it to make a TALLER SKYSCRAPER of garbage I feel that most garbage should be RECYCLED at current location only I feel there should be VEGETABLE DIGESTERS in ALL vegetable markets in Mumbai; then it can be used to make Fertilisers Already, many big housing complexes have to recycle wet waste & water💧 What are your IDEAS for making Mumbai the city of your dreams?
