Trump: "I spoke with Putin and Zelenskyy. I think they both want to do something, they just don't know how to do it." Right, because two heads of state just don't know how to talk. Or maybe, just maybe, the aggressor, Russia, doesn't want to stop its war. Which leaves the victim, Ukraine, with absolutely no choice but to defend itself. Putin keeps refusing to meet Zelenskyy at any realistic location. He keeps insisting on Moscow, knowing very well that it isn't going to happen. Because meeting would mean the end of the war, which he doesn't want.

She believes Beijing is acting like a quiet monitor, watching how Russia adjusts its message toward Washington and making sure nothing shifts without China seeing it first. Stefanishyna points out that China backed Russia from the beginning with parts, cash, and investment, and now wants to stay close in case Putin changes the narrative for the Americans. In her view, China is protecting its own strategic position more than anything else. "China has its own dialogue with Russia, with the U.S., and with European allies. It makes perfect sense that the Chinese representative is in Moscow at the same time as the American delegation. Even when Russia is defeated, even when and after Putin's regime has collapsed, even after Russia has paid war reparations, even when the next government in Russia were to beg on its kneels for an apology, even after all the Russian war criminals will be sentenced, there will be no reconciliation between Ukraine and Russia for decades, maybe for centuries. I will even refuse to visit Moscow as a member of the Ukraine delegation that will travel to Russia to witness Russia's signature of its declaration of capitulation.

The world is watching and asking what’s the point in being friends with Putin. Russia literally doesn’t have the power to help other countries. They don’t have the ammo or manpower because they’re fully tied up in the trenches of Ukraine. And this month Ukraine gained more territory than in all of 2023. Bad news for Putin.
