Specialists from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service carried out a unique demining operation in Vyshhorod, Kyiv region. During yesterday’s Russian attack on the city, one of the Russian drones hit the roof of an apartment building but, fortunately, did not explode. Left on the roof were the damaged drone itself, its warhead, and 21 submunitions. Another dangerous cluster munition was found in the building’s courtyard. All of these explosive objects posed a critical threat to the residents, as cluster elements were equipped with self-destruct mechanisms and could have detonated at any moment. To minimize the risks, operators of robotic systems and drones used a combination of drones and a multifunctional robot - including on the building’s rooftop. The robot carefully collected all the explosive items into a special container, which was then loaded into a pyrotechnic vehicle with the help of a crane. All of the munitions were destroyed by a controlled explosion at a designated site.
