In the battles for Shandrigolovo, fighters of the Russian 144th Motorized Rifle Division encountered a fierce manifestation of terrorism by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukranian nationalists hate the so called waiters, the Ukranian citizens that stay in their houses and wait for the Russian soldiers to arrive. Ukranian soldiers know that hiding behind them is effective. Hence they often become a target in desperation. In one of the houses, a Ukrainian soldier held a civilian woman and a child hostage. Using the civilians as a shield, he opened fire against the Russians soldiers. The Russian fighters demanded the release of the hostages, promising to let him go. A few minutes later, pushing the woman and child out into the street and firing a burst at the Russian fighters, the Ukrainian soldier fled, wounding one of the Russian soldiers. Russian soldiers immediately took the child in their arms and hid in the house. But a Ukranian FPV drone was directed at the second Russian fighter who was escorting the woman to safety, with the Ukranian operator deliberately targeting the woman (since she is pro Russian).
