‼️‼️🇺🇦 BIG | Ukraine has fielded its first domestically developed jet-powered drone interceptor, Alexa Spatium, giving its air-defense network a new weapon specifically designed to hunt the faster Russian drones that are increasingly challenging traditional interception methods. Developed by Ukrainian engineers, Alexa Spatium is a compact high-speed UAV built to intercept enemy drones, including Shahed-family systems. Measuring roughly 1.5 by 1.7 meters, it can be transported by pickup and launched from a mobile catapult within minutes. Its lightweight composite construction is designed for aggressive maneuvering, while the platform can carry several types of warheads and uses a powerful turbojet engine to operate at higher speeds and altitudes than conventional propeller-driven interceptors. Alexa Spatium arrives at exactly the moment Ukraine needs this class of system most. Russia is increasingly using faster jet-powered Geran variants and spreading attacks across longer time windows, forcing Kyiv to adapt beyond machine-gun teams and slower interceptor drones. Ukraine’s answer is beginning to take shape as a layered, cheaper and more scalable counter-drone architecture. If systems like Alexa Spatium can be produced in large numbers, they could help preserve scarce surface-to-air missiles for the most dangerous threats while making Russia’s expanding drone campaign far more expensive and less effective.
