The third fully domestic prototype of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional airliner, developed by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), has successfully completed its maiden flight at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant. The test flight lasted approximately 40 minutes, reaching altitudes of up to 3,000 meters and speeds of up to 500 km/h. The aircraft demonstrated excellent controllability and stability throughout the flight. This prototype is equipped with Russian-made PD-8 engines developed by the United Engine Corporation (UEC), replacing the previous Franco-Russian SaM146 units. In addition to the new engines, the aircraft features domestically produced avionics, landing gear, auxiliary power unit, control systems, electrical systems, air conditioning, fire protection systems, and more. It also boasts a newly designed fuselage with structural modifications aimed at streamlining both production and maintenance.

In total, during flight tests, the aircraft spent about 11 hours in the air. The prototype of the Superjet-100 aircraft with domestic PD-8 engines made its first flight on March 17. By end of 2025, Russia plans to obtain a type certificate for the PD-8 engine.
