Sifuna’s point goes to the heart of the Tata controversy: constitutionalism is not optional simply because the President dislikes a contract. The dispute should be settled through law, evidence and due process—not presidential pronouncements. The dangerous part is the mindset: when a President starts treating constitutional restraints as inconveniences, he is taking us back to the politics of executive supremacy.

The generational difference between Ruto and Sifuna is exactly why Sifuna is the best person to face Ruto at the polls. For years, Ruto has dominated politicans older than him by setting the terms of engagement. He throws an accusation or controversy, and his opponents spend days defending themselves. They follow his script. Sifuna is a different animal. You cannot bully him, intimidate him or control his script. He leads the conversation from beginning to end. After Meru yesterday, I am even more convinced: Ruto needs to face someone he cannot politically put on the defence where Ruto thrives at. This is what Ruto was trying to achieve by having his spokes person do a press conference on respect. The script was for Sifuna to spend days proving that he is respectful and to define him. Sifuna has managed to set the agenda by making Ruto defend his Stand on the constitution, his stand on human rights etc. When Sifuna is the presidential candidate the game will be won before it even begins Sifuna For President. We cannot fumble Sifuna's presidential bid
